Not sure that I fully understand but if the profit has been made as the result of a loan then maybe the profit should be used to pay off the loan, before being given to shareholders.
As I understand it, a lot of businesses borrow money to avoid paying taxes and iirc that is how Musk bought Twitter. He borrowed against his Tesla shares to avoid paying taxes had he sold them to fund the deal.

Say for example you get a loan for 200k over the next 10 years to buy machinery that will enable you to produce more and employ 10 more staff. The loan repayments are a lot smaller than the outstanding debt, so you will make a profit and be able to pay the extra staff. The loan is a debt but the loan facility enabled you to get the machinery to grow. You couldnt save up 200k to buy the machinery.

Disappointed by the allegations against Len McClusky. I am not sure why a union should be building a hotel with it's members money but the scale of the loss is staggering. On top of this, the hospitality he received from the contractor is shocking but I think will prove to be small beer in the scheme of things if the BBC investigation is correct.

Not too surprised tbh. McCluskey is an egotist and Unite was a vehicle for his personal ambition. My old Union , the Communication Manager’s Association (CMA) was absorbed into Unite during their period of rapid expansion, with minimal consultation of members. It felt very much at the time, as though McCluskey was empire building on the backs of thousands of disparate Union members. I never felt the benefit of being part of this Super Union he was instrumental in building, and I know many other members felt the same way. I’m also not overly surprised to witness his successor, Sharon Graham, failing to secure a deal for her members in Birmingham.

Are Private Eye jokes now... criminal?
PALESTINE Solidarity campaigner Jon Farley was arrested, bundled into a van and taken to the cells during a silent march in Leeds last weekend. What egregious act had prompted the police to act? He was, er, carrying a Private Eye joke piece as a placard!
The police have confirmed there will be no further action and all bail conditions lifted: however, even when no charges are brought, being arrested under the Terrorism Act leaves a record potentially affecting travel and employment.
Read the full story as well as Mr Farley’s description of what happened on the day itself in the latest Private Eye.

How did they deal with private energy companies when they originally consolidated them into "gas boards" in the last century? Di they compensate anyone? or just take them into public ownership?

Would have to be allowances or you create more monopolies as new entrants to the market need to attract investment which unfortunately requires returns form virtually the start while the business is gonna be in loss for a long time early years.

This is old news. Although maybe they forgot they even reported on this issue in 2007? Announcing they are the investigators of..........something they forgot they reported on 18 years ago. lol

I daresay it might (can't remember) have been in the early years of Guido-Fawkes (fake news that always turns out to be true) that BBC present as "The BBC has learned" with hardly ever a mention of where their "exclusive" came from.

EDIT: That 2007 date on google search next to the BBC quote is not right. lol. BBC using the same strategies as all these other shysters online to get around people like me using date ranges in google searches and maintain there presence at the top of the searches.

I will stick my neck out and say I was right first time and it was somewhere around 2016-2018 this was first exposed and then dismissed.
