    it’s a tough one for me. Don’t want us paying more than we think he’s worth.

    Don’t want us overstretching on Xhaka to be the reason we don’t get Diakite for example

    Yeah I get that but I also don’t think that would be the case. We have a lot of headroom. Only a 74m net spend I think so far

    Of course they can. But if we want him at a sensible price it’s not in our interest to be quick. Leverkusen are the ones with the problem of keeping him. Let them sweat that we won’t meet them at where they want.

    Sounds to me more like structure of deal conversation rather than fee negotiations to be honest. We wouldn’t have got this far without a broad agreement in principle.
