Former Liverpool & Wales player Joey Jones has died aged 70 - Liverpool Echo https://share.google/VPdQ2lE5BkvFviKYQ RIP Joey
Heavy metal star Ozzy Osbourne has died, just weeks after reuniting with his Black Sabbath bandmates and performing a huge farewell concert for fans. In a statement, his family said he died "surrounded by love". RIP
Oh no. He could have died at any time in the last 50 years, but it’s hard to believe it’s actually happened. RIP.
Fair to say Black Sabbath changed rock music forever and Ozzy was the perfect leader. I remember my last year at school and hearing Paranoid for the first time, it just was so different. His stories and antics are legendary, rock music has lost one of it's greatest. I even named a dog after him RIP Ozzy... Never one to shy away from controversy this is as relevant today as it was then...
His house/estate is in my village although I never saw him. Total legend, Sky news gave him a longer tribute than anyone I’ve ever seen.
Lovely comment on the wireless today about Ozzy. A 31-year old fan who'd been at the recent Sabbath reunion gig said that he, among many others, had been moved to tears as Osbourne took the stage. He said that when you go to a funeral one of the saddest things is that the departed can't be around to witness how much they were loved. Ozzy was able to do that before he died, he said.
Apparently he said some time in 2023 that, if he couldn’t play lots of live gigs, he’d like to build up to one farewell gig and after that he’d be fine with pegging it. I’m not a big metal head but Sabbaths enormous riffs and the fact that they virtually invented a genre as 4 working class blokes from Brum somehow resonates with me. Bizarrely, I’m beginning to rather like Brum as well. It’s real, no airs and graces.
