Yep I watched a documentary a few years back and they all said that for that particular performance Freddie was like a man possessed. Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon had bundles of talent, but let Freddie do his thing. Not a massive Queen fan myself, but what a thing! Absolute showman.
Quite shocked by this news. Not a fan of his music but a character. Jazz pianist Hal Galper and conductor Sir Roger Norrington have also died this week.
Dave Cousins main man of the Strawbs died a couple of weeks ago. I missed it as undergoing my total hip replacement but thought I'd stick a track up which typifies the sound and style which seduced myself as a 14yr old kid. Always hated how they were mostly remembered for the novelty part of the union nonsense when they produced several top folk/prog/rock LPs. This track was actually a dig at Rick Wakeman who'd just left the band to join Yes. Dave and he made up afterwards though, even making a record together around 2004. Thanks for the memories and music Mr Cousins.
I don't know what gives you that impression Marv. I made myself a right pain in the arse for the management of the government research establishment where I was a shop steward for the EEPTU back in the 70's, to the extent that they offered me a fast track position in personnel as it was then, they would have even bought me a suit.
