As you seem to be desperate for an argument. I said TV football was booming, along with armchair fans. More homes got a TV and then a colour one.

I also said that winning got you more money which generally meant you won more and got even more money which meant you won more.

All of which means by and large we are in agreement.

Simple questions. Did you actually go to a live game in the 70's?
Where you even alive then? People were getting television sets in the late 50's and in the 70's the only football on the telly was MOTD and half an hour of highlights on a Sunday afternoon.
its you picking the arguments, I'm just stating facts, I was there, I experienced it and lived through it.

Maybe was different depending on regions, but i remember Charity Shield games, European finals and Uefa Championship in Serbia being on LWT in the 1970s.

There wasn’t much on though. No league games or FA Cup games.

TV football wasn’t booming. No league games, no Cup games. Hardly any more homes got a TV. TV ownership was 90% in 1970 and 94% in 1974. The biggest TV audience for a football match remains the WC Final in 1966 when only about 60-65% of homes had a TV.

Football in the 70's, live and on TV, held little interest for the masses. Sponsors were mainly local companies, and families daren't/wouldn't attend in person. :emoticon-0138-think

    We still had a black&white in 74..

When he eventually got a coloured job it made no ****ing difference anyway due to my major issue with colours.:emoticon-0102-bigsm

    Yes I did
    Yes I was
As a better off than most on our council estate we got a colour telly in 1974ish. A special offer from redifussion for the Olympics.
It was in the 70s when people gave up on their local lower league club and started to follow the teams at the top of division 1.

Got my first colour TV in 1974. Hadn’t been married long. First weekend we had it was when Abba won the Eurovision song contest. Massive 19” or 20” screen. <laugh> It was a bit of an extravagance which had my dad tutting about as he still had a black and white TV.

Sad inadequates we’re already supporting other clubs, at least in Hull. As shown by how many Leeds supporters from Hull turned up when Leeds played Tottenham at BP when Leeds were banned from Elland Road and all the OPE Reds, Longhill Reds, Wingfield Reds etc turned up when we played Man Utd in the Watney Cup in 1970.
