I’m not saying you’re wrong but this is an absolutely mental statement. Imagine saying last season we should go for Xhaka as back-up for our midfield in the premier league, you’d have been laughed off the board. Wow!
@PlettiGoal EXCL | Granit #Xhaka wants to join #Sunderland immediately. His agent José Noguera told me for Sky: “We’ve reached an agreement in principle with Sunderland. Granit wants to return to the Premier League. Sunderland excites him – he wants to take on this challenge. We hope Leverkusen will respect his wish to leave and that the clubs will find an agreement soon.” @SkySportDE
Congratulations to you all mate, hope your mrs and the bairn are recovering well. best feeling in the world
He's been excellent for us this summer. Think everyone at the club thought the keeper would happen but there's no accounting for outrageous Saudi cash
Granit Xhaka has informed Bayer Leverkusen that he only wants to join Sunderland, as club-to-club talks continue over a deal for the Swiss midfielder. An agreement is now in place between Xhaka and the Premier League club, with the 32-year-old prioritising a move to Regis Le Bris’ men over other suitors. Leverkusen have been asked by Xhaka to close the proposed transfer rapidly and negotiations over the Switzerland international are ongoing to find a solution. - David Ornstein
In all the Xhaka talk we’ve missed some big news https://sportwitness.co.uk/sunderland-strong-temptation-for-defender-director-flies-to-find-replacement/#google_vignette Sunderland strong temptation for defender – Director flies to find replacement 22nd July 2025 Last week, Corriere di Bologna reported Sunderland’s willingness to make a second bid for Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi. They expressed doubts over the player’s intentions about joining the Black Cats but Regis Le Bris’ side are slowly making some progress in their move. Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by 1000CuoriRossoblu, today reports that Sunderland is proving to be a strong temptation for Lucumi even though he hoped for a bigger club to come along. The approach from the newly promoted Premier League side is starting to convince the Colombian and this can be a major turning point in the mini-saga. Sunderland are expected to make a bigger offer for the 27-year-old soon, with Bologna looking to earn €25m. The newspaper claims the player’s agents are now pushing for a move to England. Rossoblu sporting director Giovanni Sartori flew to Belgium at the weekend to watch Union St Gilloise’s Fedde Leysen, who is seen as a replacement for Lucumi. This could be the biggest sign yet that Sunderland can land Lucumi, and their next offer will be key.
Newcastle fans going mental on the other forum I'm on, saying PSR is broken if Sunderland can spend this much etc etc I've tried explaining our net spend is significantly less than Ipswich's last season but they won't hear it
