If Stach can put up similar numbers in the Premier League than he did in the Bundesliga then we have an exceptional midfielder on our hands. The whole signing rests on him settling in and dealing with the pace of the game over here. He's not gonna get you a load of goals or assists but he is a bit of a midfield destroyer. To my untrained eye, he looks like he would thrive in the PL. Disclaimer - I said Tanaka would struggle last season so I don't have the best of records.
As soon as he appeared as a rumour I liked the look of him, liked the stats, watched the videos of him breaking up attacks. So I’m happy with the signing. However. YouTube videos of defensive midfielders don’t show you much. Defensive stats are also often a manifestation of the success of the team and their style of play. So it looks good but, it needs context that only watching him live for a season will tell you. Even then, how does it adapt to the PL? Cautiously optimistic about him. Proof as always will be in the pudding.
On the loan theme we could splash £50m on Muniz and it either works or doesn’t keep us up. Loaning a striker saves us £50m that can be used in January in emergency. It also allows the club to find a top striker for next season if we stay up. Identify the target and work on it all season. Muniz would insist on a release clause of some description in case of relegation?
