It’s been mentioned before. But can you imagine the response if it was a well armed Arab Islamic state carrying out the same atrocities on a disenfranchised Jewish population. Bombing them, starving them, making them queue up for food and then shooting them. All the while annexing more of their land and telling them they can’t have it back because they are a security risk.
History would suggest an Arab Islamic army driving out it’s not disenfranchised Jews would lead to bit of shrugging and everyone getting on with their days. “Disenfranchised” is a bit “internal strife”.
I expect we’d have an awful lot of people claiming it’s justified de-colonisation. Much the same people who celebrated October 7th. And Fosse.
It’s not like Arabs haven’t been trying to wipe out Jews either for centuries or recently. Hezbollah really fancied their chances against a weakened IDF on October 8th and went for it. It didn’t end well.
Oh I agree, they’ve been at each other for centuries. I just find it interesting that this is a just war for Israel and the US, and the daily slaughter of innocents queuing for food and water is tolerated, but if the script was flipped and it was Arabs killing Jews, there would be absolute international outrage about it.
Seems pretty clear that Israel are systematically flattening Gaza regardless of the cost to civilian lives. A significant aim of this process is Netanyahu’s desire to hold on to power for as long as possible. Hence both systematic and political. The deliberate use of terror against the civilian population is undeniable at this point. And this won’t end well, not for Israel, not for anybody. If it ever ends. Genuine question; if you were an Israeli citizen, how would you personally feel about getting called up to go and participate in this carnage?
It’s not really carnage though is it. Syria is carnage. I can’t honestly put myself in that position but I think rather than know that I’d see it as a duty as I would if born here 80 years earlier. Doesn’t mean I’d be delighted about it as I’m sure Israelis who would rather be in their poncey tech jobs aren’t.
It's also clear that Netanyahu doesn't give a **** about those hostages, but just uses them as leverage to continue with the conflict. Several times Hamas have agreed to release ALL of the hostages, but each time it was thwarted by Israel. Anybody remember the actual ceasefire that was supposed to move to phase 2 ? Hamas has said it is ready to release all its remaining hostages in a single exchange if the ceasefire agreement with Israel moves forward to a second phase next month. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-israel-gaza-ceasefire-agreement-second-phase
There's always going to be some who are Anti-Semitic come what may, in the same way that there are people who hate Islam and call it the Religion of war etc. But you can't tell me that if the script was flipped and it was Israel being attacked by a well armed Islamic state that there wouldn't be international outrage and indeed a military response from the West.
Don't be silly sonny. I'll condemn inhuman actions wherever they occur and whoever the perpetrators.... always have, always will... clearly others don't ...
Israel was attacked by several well-armed Islamic armies two years ago and we ponced about doing **** all.
Then you clearly have little faith in the vast numbers that will always advocate fairness, equity and striving for peace, cooperation, harmony and respecting the sanctity of life.
