Always difficult to tell. Look how much money scum wasted on a Brazilian winger that played well in Holland.
Marseille don't have the money for him. Sounds like he wants to go there for European football but the deal hasnt been finalised. If the clubs can't agree a fee then we will be waiting in the wings. Im not totally sold on him. PL is a huge step up. It's a risky one. I'd much prefer Solomon.
I thought the same when I saw he was another right sided, left winger. But watching him on YouTube, he is a truly talented player. He shoots from distance, with either foot, like Bobby Charlton. And don't forget that Raphinha wasn't playing in one of the best leagues in Europe when we signed him. It's being reported today that he wants to play in the Premiership rather than Ligue 1, and that reports that he wanted European football with Marseilles were just manufactured by the French.
Di Zerbi has just bought Jonathon Rowe who we fancied and he’s a left winger like Piaxoa, so a wee problem there unless he thinks Piaxoa can play at ten? On the other wing he has Mason Greenwood who got 20+ goals last season so he won’t be dropped. Also believe that the Dutch wanted all the money up front and Marseille will struggle. On the Solomon front Frank has stated that Solomon has a slight calf injury so not involved right now. It could be late in the window before we find out if Frank wants him. Frank also spent £1m+ on our U18 striker Boast who joined Spurs today
Wonder what the truth is about Marc Guiu thr Chelsea kid as a loan option. He wont get much game time this season with Chelsea’s new strikers, but they want him to play. Only played 9 games last season but scored 6 and looks a livewire and handful. Story has been around for a week or so but seems to be getting more legs? Looking at his game I think Farkeball would suit him?
Not sure if I’d prefer him or the Fulham guy, let’s imagine we stay up and the Chelsea kid was part responsible with 20 goals. Next season we once again become desperate for a striker. I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer
The answer is loan with an option to buy. Hate these loan only deals, like Solomon. He was probably our best attacking player last season and yet we haven’t replaced him yet.
So you want loan with option to buy, but no compulsion to ? But what if the loaning club doesn't want to set a permanent transfer at the start of the loan ? Would you have preferred not to have taken Solomon on loan ? And have Leeds not been burned enough times by clubs who negotiate an option to buy but have no intension of paying that price ?
As have all clubs. The loan market would make a good thread. Just loan Loan with option to buy Loan with compulsory purchase Loan with penalty if purchase option is declined.
