I remember travelling back from an away match sometime around 2006, and we had 606 on the radio. A Charlton fan rang in and said 'I'm bored with finishing mid to lower table in the Premier League, and I wouldn't mind a relegation this season, then winning promotion the season after'. He got half of his wish.

Abridged version, there's very little, to no, argument for getting relegated, EVER.

I can kind of get why some fans want it rather than constant stability. Especially nowadays being midtable in the prem can probably be a right bore. I agree with you though that there’s no guarantees in football you only have to look at Luton

No issue with him talking **** on a radio show but during a game let the game flow or add something of relevance.

Back in 2006 you might have had a point. Ever, on the other hand, is a long time.

He's invariably right when commentating on City that 2-0 is the most dangerous score..<laugh>

Not long enough if looking for positive reasons for a relegation. That is all.

It would seem rather unfair/absurd if we're subject to the exact same restrictions as weds, eg the 7k limit .....we're obv in a state but nothing like the absolute complete and utter basket case they are

There's no way se signed Ajayi for less than £7k a week, so I assume the Yorkshire Post have got it wrong.

I think part of the thing with Burnsy is that people's expectations of commentary has changed a bit. I don't recall anyone having an issue with him when I was growing up, I think at that point it was enough to just be a big advocate of the team and City, passionate about our success and to make us feel part of it when we couldn't get to a game. You didn't expect to have the full picture, it's only radio after all. You'd watch the highlights later on and you'd accept that a lot of the game you just wouldn't see. I think it's changed now that we have access to so much more video, people expect to know everything in vivid detail immediately and people have sort of forgotten that radio commentary can't and was never meant to offer that. And like dj alluded to, more people are into the technical side of football now rather than just wanting to feel involved and get a vibe of the feeling at the match and accepting that if you're not there you're not going to see everything.

Listening to Tuesday night away games in bed on humberside as a young lad was magic.

Burnsy always reminds me of them times and does exactly what you’re describing.

I thought people just wanted commentary on the game and not pies and nights out and oh swanneh you’re so funny
I’m a bit odd like that actually wanting to know about the game

I always zone out the commentary anyway whenever I’m watching live football.

That seems the sensible thing to do it you can't stomach him:emoticon-0148-yes:

FWIW,he does waffle on some times but until such times as he's not doing it(the commentary),we're stuck with it and have an option...Listen or mute,it's not rocket science,it's an easy enough process.

I think that covers it, but maybe we could have a phone-in to discuss it. Anybody know any presenters adept at dealing with Hull people live on the radio who could present it?
