Regardless of the narrative the club's trying to spin, I think it's pretty clear we need cash quite urgently. I think the Alzate fee is a little low, I don't think he's a £5m player mind, but you could get more. Also we're shifting on Alfie and Macca and replacing them with 2 players who can't stay fit. Unless you need the money, it doesn't make sense. It feels like we're trying to raise funds without selling 'star' assests (Hughes and Pandur) as that would be very difficult to create a positive PR spin off. Puerta will be gone next and I expect us to lose money on him. We should never have signed him permanently for that fee. There's a decent player in there, but it was a panic signing as we were petrified of going down in the Spring
I don't get what you mean by that? It was an obligation so surely the bad decision, if there was one, was made last summer?
I am hoping this is it with the sales, just to get the cash flow working again...whilst also reducing/maintaining wages on the defence. Injuries aside, on paper we are probably slightly better off. Alzate wanted out anyway....what else you gonna do. We are still a shambles! You Ull
Another one who treats Acun like a toddler who didn’t make it to the toilet in time and **** his pants rather than a grown man responsible for running a business. “we won't find many people who have the passion and love he does.” I actually don’t give a **** if the owner goes to local pubs, takes people on holiday, is a passionate football fan or even turns up to home games. It’s irrelevant to me. The owner could be a boring investment banker who has little interest in the sport but as long as the club is well-run, financially healthy and football decisions are delegated to qualified people, I’ll be happy. His piss-poor running of the club can’t just be excused because ‘everyone makes mistakes’ and ‘he’s passionate’. Incompetence is just as bad as malice.
People are entitled to their opinions and to write a different story, that is life, but I will always be behind our club. Our squad has £100m potential, we have a very good coach, the best fans and if we are united together we can achieve our dreams. Anyone remember this from our owner only a week or so ago, not sure we’d get to £20 million the way things are going.
Pandur and Hughes must be worth 40 million each in his head. It's the only way to reach that number surely.
Hey Acun, thanks for popping in. Please sort out this car crash asap it’s getting embarassing. Cheers SW3
Tell me a club run by a banker for the benefit of the fans? Or am I missunderstanding a bankers function? The owner has brought lots of money in to the club and yes through what appears to his own mistakes, has also lost a lot of it, but obviously that was not his intention. Give it a rest.
It was only an obligation if he hit the required number of games. We should've made sure he didn't play that number of games.
What’s actually happening to omur, he’s on allegedly 35k a week, we still own him, we need players and he’s kicking around in turkey
I'm probably on my own but I can't believe that somebody hasn't bought a championship club with the aim to make money by simply staying in the Championship. We've proven in the semi-recent past that you can survive (comfortably) with a £12m wage bill. If you commit to developing young talent, you can make decent money.
You are on your own. Preston have a wage bill under £8m, last year they lost just under £10m, the year before £12m. Also their owner recently has converted £50m of debt to equity. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
He's never once described himself as a banker? He's a Turkish media mogul who took a punt on us and has made mistake, after mistake, after mistake...He can't even get it wrong right!! 'He's brought lots of money into the Club'.... in what way?We owe the bloke £70million,it's technically a loan to himself, with interest?
I looked at a site giving just under £8m, hey ho. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
