To be fair I think 1.5 million is about right. We signed him for free less than a year ago. I personally don’t rate him as high as others, I think he slows us down too much. Although, it’s a huge hole too fill, like all these players we are selling.
In any other time, Alzate would have gone for £4 million minimum. £3 million upfront I could have understood... 1.5 plus add ons?... add ons for what...?
If we’ve only got 1.5 up front I’d assume the add ons are quite easy to reach otherwise it’s a dreadful deal for us.
I thought Alzate was ok, showed promise, but I'm not sure where these valuations of 3,4,5 mil come from. Brighton didn't want him, we got him free, did he really do that much last season to justify more than we've let him go for?
International appearances, league appearances, qualifying for tournaments etc. Given Atlanta have been 24 karat ****e this season, the latter isn't very likely so hopefully it isn't that.
It's a bit low, but if it rises to double that it's a good deal for a player that didn't cost us a transfer fee.
It's been said before, but a player is worth what the market is willing to pay for them in that moment. We may be motivated to sell, but if someone's motivated to buy, they'd do what it takes to get the deal done. Nothing stopping another team offering £600k for macca if they wanted him. But they didn't. Ditto moody twat Alzate who's probably been shopped around since before last season ended. Imo.
Watched him a bunch as I live with a derby fan. He’s exactly what Jakirovic describes as a midfielder he wants. He stood out plenty of times for them and was a big part of their resurgence. Would be a great signing. So probs won’t happen
