ManU have "put aside" €30m to buy Sara this window. That's £26m I believe so if it happens we get some of it. I'm guessing there was a 15% clause in the deal so a nice little windfall possibly.

Josh to Wolfsburg looking more serious
    now as the Pinkun comments:

"Norwich City are close to agreeing a £21million deal with Wolfsburg for star striker Josh Sargent, according to reports. Sargent is open to leaving Carrow Road this summer, with the Bundesliga side in negotiations with Canaries sporting director Ben Knapper for weeks over his potential transfer. Sky Sports' Rob Dorsett this evening claims that those negotiations are nearing a conclusion, with talks at an advanced stage and the American having voiced his desire to move back to Germany."

That figure of £21m seems good business for NCFC. Let’s hope some of it gets spent on decent winger(s) and a striker. Mind you, we have Crnac and the new Danish lad as striker(s)?

I fear that the £21m figure includes any add ons, so it's more likely to be £18-19m without those.

15% of profit would be just under a million

Sargent will be a huge loss but £20m is probably about right .

Agree Rick It seems that the German press were far more up to date on this deal over your local press and I suspect that the figure they were quoting is the up front payment with the rest in addons.

Except that the German press were saying that a deal was agreed at €16m (£13.85m). Even now, no deal has been agreed.

Looking for possible youth breakthroughs, Errol Mundle-Smith put in quite a performance on Saturday:

"The 19-year-old curled the ball into the bottom corner via a deflection to give City the lead but more promising was his willingness to take on his man and having the composure to deliver balls into the box. Supported by Jose Cordoba at left back, City predominantly attacked down that side in the first half."

Another left wing option is very welcome as things stand. His progress is even more remarkable given where he came to us from:

"Mundle-Smith's story is incredible. He joined the club in 2023 from the Kinetic Foundation in London, who describe themselves as 'an innovative London-based football and education charity which helps young people who reside in the most deprived areas of the UK, are from low-income households and/or from historically marginalised ethnic backgrounds to stay in education through their passion for football.' It would be some tale if he did become a Championship option."

Pleased to read that. It is really what we need more of and less of who we are going to buy, Arsenal are including two 15 year olds in the squad going on their pre-season tour and often have teenagers in their matchday squad, I know that these youngsters are better than ours but the top of the EPL is a universe away from our level, The Norwich way - play in the under 18's, progress to the under 21's, send them out on loan a couple of times and then let them go because the path to the first team is blocked by players we have bought. I thought Thorup would break that mould but he was sacrificed so we could join the many Clubs, some bigger than us, in the mad scramble for the top 6 as quickly as possible. I accept that I am probably a minority view, as I often am, and am probably wrong, as I often am, but I see no future for our Club under the current owner. I thought originally Knapper was a good appointment but he now seems to have to get all instructions from above. Delia and Michael never interfered - the current owner and his team???

If it's more youths you want, 1950, there were two on show Saturday in the form of La'Sean Sealey(18) and Ajay Tavares(15). Sealey scored in the previous week against Northampton and was impressive again and Tavares showed few nerves in his debut WR against a top league team well ahead in their preseason. He took on his defender without hesitation and his passing was good as well. He's also in the England U15s.

I am very pleased to read what you say but will they ever get the chance to prove themselves with a run in the matchday squad. Our past record and the numbers of players we are currently bringing in would not suggest they will. How many youngsters have come through the academy during the last few years and gone on to make 50 first team appearances? I understand we have CB's with potential - will they get a run in the first team in the next couple of years? I doubt it.

I believe Elliot Myles will be another in and around the first team this season, 18 year okd Welsh left winger. Unfortunately he picked up a hamstring injury in the first few days of pre-season

Manning has a background in youth development, but no real track record of elevating young players into his first teams. At BC last season, the only youngster to play regularly was George Earthy, a 20 year-old on loan from West Ham. I'd say our recruitment so far this summer -- Darling (25 y), Medic (26 y), Stacey (29 y) -- is very much in line with Manning's view of what a competitive Championship team needs. It will be interesting to see who is brought in in the event Sargent leaves, and whether a more experienced LB is signed (the Pink'Un has already been doing some softening up on that, ostensibly in light of injury worries regarding Chrisene and Mahovo).

What gives you this impression? What decisions have been made by the owners about the playing squad? Everything they or BK or the club have said is contrary to that. Of course BK is answerable to ownership as anyone in his position would be, that doesn’t mean ownership make the decisions
