I must admit I wasn't aware that there was a problem with the installation of the new pitch. Just typical of CAFC. We get the football right for once (to the extent of gaining promotion) and something else goes wrong
Out-classed in the end, but they did their best. The Welsh still have something to play for though - they would dearly love to knock England out of the Euros if they can battle an unlikely victory against us in their last group game.
England topping their group at half time. Apparently if they win the group, England's women play Germany in the Quarter-Finals, and probably Spain in the Semi, if they get past the Germans. Still, if they do win the competition nobody can say they had an easy route to the Final.
Well done to England for scraping through to the Women's Euro's semi-Finals. A spirited second half scrap against a Sweden side that looked very slick in the first half. But the penalty shoot-out was embarrassing. Totally pot luck. Hey ho, that's how it goes sometimes. They're still in it. Italy next I believe...
I'm glad the England women's team wont's be taking the knee before games anymore. I know many of those who did it or support it do so for the right reasons, but it was never any more than a comfortable, ineffective gesture. Anti-racist action must have an effect. Anyone found guilty of sending racist messages should be banned from owning a computer or a smart phone. 1st offence: 5 years. Second offence - for life.
