but it's an area of the pitch where Sunderland are quite clearly at this stage not Premier League ready. It's not for the want of trying, Le Bris is splitting his time between coaching and working with the extensive transfer team out here in Portugal, with the club trying to get the balance right between waiting for the high-calibre target they need and understanding that reinforcements are required before the new season if Sunderland are to stand a chance of hitting the ground running. - Phil Smith on defensive recruitments
I’m definitely coming round to the idea of Seelt being our “second centre back signing”. At least until the end of August.
I'm not shy in my support of Alese. If we keep him fit hes going to be an animal at centre half and will push for first choice
We rushed him back for Luton and set him back months first time round, second was a freak broken leg. The lad needs to catch a break and we all have to hope this is the end of his injury troubles
He also has a new injury that isn’t anything to do with the broken leg and is out for the first 3 games
Aye no chance we can rely on Alese over a season just yet, the talent is there but he needs to prove he can play week in week out We have some really talented players that have bright futures - Seelt, Aleese, Hjelde, Jones, Aleksic, Young, Johnson and potentially abdullahi - but they need minutes to get to that potential Seelt obviously has a chance, I've almost gone off the Cresswell signing now and would rather Seelt be used as that developmental CB. Still think we need a top quality CB and probably even a LCB, then have Ballard, Seelt and O9 competing with them We then need to use the loan market well to give the ofher lads minutes. I was going to include Huggins in the list but I do think he will get a shot at LB or RB at the start of the season
Can we just please get a positive Diakite update I honestly don’t care who the second cb we bring in is as long as diakite comes in
A quality centre half is a clear need, but ballard can step up and I also think Seelt, 09 and Alese can step in when needed. Loan market needs to be those next level players we cant afford at the moment, not squad fillers imo
just seems a likeable lad, always smiling and joking in training. Think he’s an instant fan favourite for both what he does on the pitch and what he’s like off it
The issue is those 3 have missed a lot of game time Seelt hasn't had a proper run of things at senior level, he might be able to step up but the PL is so unforgiven and we must be strong at the back to stand any chance Id want 2 CBs to come in then let Alese go out on loan
Would love a batch of players going on loan to one team so we can follow them properly. Seelt, Triantis, Johnson, Young, Jones, Abdullahi, Hjelde, Aleksic all at a newly promoted championship team would be class and potentially transformative.
Young will go L1 or L2 Johnson L2 or SPL - I'd like him to go to Hibs Aleksic - probably go on loan abroad Abdullahi - I am undecided on at the minute but do feel he needs to play week in week out rather than a bit part player at us Jones - L1 or L2 Seelt - I'd keep Hjelde - abroad or the championship Triantis - I'd sell. I really like him but until dont want to keep loaninh players out all the time and just feel we have outgrown him
