I would see Roberts playing inside more. He ain’t got the pace for a winger but can play in v tight spaces with the right players around him.
I wouldn’t accommodate him as such. I see him coming on as sub mostly, in a more defensive 4-2-3-1 Rigg would be ahead of him in a more central role, but he may also come on to replace Adringa out wide.
Keith Downie about Lauriente: Fee agreed in principle for Laurienté to Sunderland — £17.5m. The 26-year-old will sign a 5-year contract. He’s set to travel for his medical & finalise the transfer over the weekend. This will take #SAFC spending this window to +£110m.
Stewart Donald what a negotiator, didn't he end up paying more than Wigan's original valuation for Grigg, despite being advised against it by recruitment team and Jack Ross. Unbelievable, they've spent twice as much as I was expecting. Thought KLD was supposed to be tight, still not finished yet and just over 6 weeks of the window left.
There have been a few posters over the last few seasons who said we would spend big once we get to the premier league, can't remember who they were but take a bow. We're signing quality and not just quantity, sensible spending.
Twice !!!!! They’ve spent times what I was a expecting & there’s still the January window to come too lol
Keith Downie on twitter EXCL: Armand Laurienté is travelling to Portugal this afternoon to meet up with his soon-to-be new Sunderland teammates. ️The Frenchman will take a private jet from Italy, after #SAFC struck a £17.5m deal with Sassuolo for the attacker. ⚽️ Laurienté is set to watch tonight’s match against Sevilla, providing his medical is completed in time.
6'1" right footed CB who can also play RB and LB. Scores a few goals as well Fabrice Hawkins* on twitter: Bafodé Diakité is not expected to sign at Bournemouth ❌ Lille has rejected around €30m bonuses included from Bournemouth. Sunderland push for the defender. Personal terms are not an issue. Lille asks €40m. * Reasonable source apparently
Looking at that photo, he’s clearly not a team player. Obviously got a massive ego and we’ve definitely dodged a bullet. This opinion is subject to revision if he eventually signs.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but hadn't he been playing 2nd tier Italian football. Big leap to our prem league. Not disappointed about it.
The bench only, impact sub. Unless he changes his attitude and doesn't act like the best player on the pitch. Needs to understand that football is all about passing and move, preferably forwards.
Did you not watch the play off final? That wasn’t his only one either. Our top assists last season. He is a very good footballer, up there with le Fee. Not quite as good using the ball but every other part of his game is as good as Enzo. Sadly not consistently though.
I understand what you are saying, however one game doesn't make for a season if frustrating watching. He tries one too many tricks where the simpler play is ho go forward. Which is what a proper winger does and deliver the ball into the box.
TBH I’m struggling to think of any wingers who play that way, it seems ineffective. In the playoffs Sakamoto kept slinging in crosses that were dealt with. The PL doesn’t seem to play that way so we may have to play triangles but quicker and more decisively.
