Racing is a bit thin on the ground today, just the two meetings: Fakenham and Wolverhampton. FAKENHAM 14:00 Knight Legend. Oddy. WOLVERHAMPTON. 15:15 Jwala. cyc. WON 9-4. 15:15 Pale Orchid. EW. George. SECOND 15-2 He won't be betting though. 17:15 Sumbe. Cats. NR When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
Morning Cyc - hope you are well mate Fakenham card not too bad today - John Ferguson sends a couple with nice chances (I bet RV will be telling us all about them later on ) and the 2.00 heat is a good contest for a Monday. I will nap top weight Knight Legend who goes for the hat-trick. The old boy (who won in graded company in Ireland for Jessica Harrington a few years ago and was once rated 151) still retains plents of ability and after racking up 2 wins off 116 and 125 (both over 2m4f on Good) he is upped a further 5lbs today. He does however have 10lbs claimer Mark Marris in the saddle and the conditional has already won for trainer Sue Humphrey in a similar event where his 10lbs made all the difference on Call At Midnight off top weight. Best of luck to all who play today
Yep fantastic Oddy. I had a quick skim through your thread, before reading it properly. For a second there I thought the horse was trained by Sir Humphrey, next name that popped into my head was Appleby.
Does anyone know who the trainer A. Carson is? I see today that William Carson is riding so presume it as actually a relation but not obviously his famous Grandfather, as it would be no way to prepare for a new training career by eating bugs in an Australian jungle for half witted tv viewers. I really like William Carson as a rider and hope he starts getting some recognition soon. He will often be found at the days second or third meeting rather than it's premier track whilst some who are at the main track are not up to his standard. I have not unfortunately got anything useful to add regarding today's racing, i have not been betting much these last couple of weeks but had a play over the Cheltenham cards over the weekend and wished i had'nt bothered. I think that may be me done until Boxing day now.
Yes Minister. Tv show. Sorry about that mate, just showing my age. Sue Humphrey. Sir Humphrey Appleby.
From the sublime Southwell AW cards of the weekend to the ridiculously rubbish jumps card of today. What a joy Monday's are. No bets for me, stay lucky and you all should be greatful that you don't support Chesterfield!!
Got you now mate Must say that was one British comedy I never got in to at the time - might have to download a few episodes and review my opinion
Some it was really clever Oddy. Check this out if you get a free minute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEo8sjnU8Jo&feature=related
Racing is Dire today lads. My loathe of tipping short-priced horses coupled with my 'cba to trawl through big cards when the racing's this poor' attitude leaves me with just a couple of races, with the 3.15 at Wolves the lucky winner. The horse that looks like the winner to me is called Lost City but presently at 13/8 I can't be having that price. There is one horse who catches my eye and has already seen a bit of money and that is Pale Orchid currently at 10s who has run close to some decent horses in Ireland. This horse e/w will be my choice but is very much a no bet - just bulking out the original article.
Morning, people. Today has to be a candidate for worst days action of the year and for that reason I'm waving the 'no bet' banner. Great end to last week though for Mr Henderson at both Cheltenham and Doncaster. The list of top class performances by his charges at those venues was very long but perhaps the brightest of the lot...Sprinter Sacre, methinks.
Yep, Was told earlier just been able to put on now. The connections didnt get what they wanted on, one to watch !
Good afternoon gents... Not the most of inspiring of racing days today, but then again it is a monday...!!! But im having a little punt on the 2.30 @ Fakenham - (not my fav place to get winners...) Monroe Park, 9/1 - The only CD winner in this field and that counts for a bit here at Fakenham... Elsewhere its all 4/7, 2/5, 8/15, 4/9 shots... Not a good day for value shall we say... Good luck to all who do indeed part with any weekend winnings today... Or not...
Cheers for pointing it out anyway Cats. Shame they couldnt get on what they wanted. Unfortunately for them next time the bookies will price it lower, expecting a gamble. Have followed a couple of 'steamers' subsequently declared a NR and the price the bookies offer next time is tiny vs the price from the race they were pulled out of. As a result wouldnt one expect a couple of 'softer' rides before trying to land the gamble again?
