There was a interview somewhere with the new guy at Arsenal, where he said he lines up 3 deals at a time to the point of medicals ready to take place etc and then a decision is made on which signing they actually want to do
This! I know a few people are saying we should just move Talbi onto the LW, but that's clearly not what the club has in mind. He's only ever played 10 games in his career off the left wing for starters, and the club wouldn't have spent 20m on him without knowing his best position. The club also wouldn't have been about to sign Lauriente for 20m, having already spent 20m on Adingra, if they they thought Talbi's best position was left wing...that doesn't make sense to me.
I’m of the opinion players are part of the problem. If they are dumb enough to trust sharks they can’t be excused. They need to make the agents work for them and can’t hide behind them.
You can tell just by watching him imo. Looks more comfortable on the left. He was moved to RW when Brugge sold theirs
The club clearly disagree though. Otherwise we wouldn't have been about to spend another 20m on Lauriente. And we've not pulled out of that deal based on a quiet 45 minutes of Talbi at RW in a friendly.
Not a bad policy, but leaves someone disappointed, also it doesn't often go public. We don't go public too often either. It's interesting.
Not that worried about LW tbh. We’ve already signed adingra and obviously have Mundle returning at some point. In a case of emergency Le Fee, Mayenda, Talbi emoticon-0105-winkand Isidor have also played there before. Think the club will spend £10M-£15M on an option there which seems about right (Lauriente was going to be £17M?) I think CB is the biggest priority as of now
I know we wouldn’t have pulled out due to that but when Talbi arrived we said he could play both flanks which he can. im just simply saying he looks best on the left to me he seems to want to cut in and for all hes both footed his strongest is his right. He was quiet last night and it just felt he is on the wrong side to me
I agree, he does look good on the left, but the club haven't (or weren't about to) spend £60m on 3 left wingers, when we already had Mundle. We definitely see him playing off the RW, no? Or am I missing something obvious?
I’m only dipping in and out of this thread so apologies if this has already been posted but here are the comments from the club website from when we signed him. Kristjaan Speakman added: “Our momentum and story are powerful, and I think players of Chemsdine’s calibre, who are in high demand, are excited by the prospect of playing for Sunderland AFC. It’s a testament to our recent past and immediate future that he feels this we are the right Club for his next step. Predominantly playing wide right, Chemsdine excels in duels and possesses elite physical qualities, and he also has flexibility to play across the frontline. Our supporters will rightly be excited to see him play, and we are delighted to welcome him to Sunderland.” Speakman’s opinion probably has more weight Bart Tamsyn’s. It’s clear to me that the club have signed him initially for the right side.
He was the 1st signing I was a bit uneasy about. Interesting to see where we look now. Could be that Mundle has agreed a new deal?
looking at the plight of his agency entourage on the flight, it looks that way. good riddance in advance if that’s the case.
Hmm shame. Hopefully he can light it up but I thought he looked a bit quiet and uncomfortable on that side but it was his first game I suppose. him being confident with both feet should be good for that. seen someone on twitter saying to send him back then swap him in the Lauriente deal earlier hahah
Its fine everyone saying we have Mundle etc but 3 hamstring injuries in under a year is a massive concern will be an asset but will he stay fit
