Unless his agent/player has asked for more money based on the Mundle injury and we’ve immediately thought “We don’t want that type of character at the club”. If we’ve got him over for a medical and on a plane, I can’t imagine it’s us who have tried changing the terms of the deal last second, particularly with us now without Mundle. I’m reading it as they’ve chanced their arm, pissed us off and we’ve told them to **** off.
We move on. I have complete faith in the club’s decisions and if agents have tried playing funny buggers then we’ve rightly told them to get ****ed.
Get Diakite sorted and all will be forgotten. CB is the current priority for me, our current backup CBs are Triantis who played a full season in midfield for Hibs and Johnson who couldn't really get into the Notts County team. Think we need at least one through the door in the next 2 weeks.
That sounds a bit amateur to me. It's a negotiation, of course they're going to ask for more. That's the job.
I’m not convinced Mundle will be ready for me like. I was already worried about hanging our hat on him anyway due to his injuries. No guarantee the surgery will even solve the issue
Completely agree, if this was for Lucumi I would have had a different reaction but were really strong for LW (even with le fee in a completely worst case scenario)
Aye but if things were agreed in principle and they’ve massively moved the goalposts thinking we’re now desperate with Mundle out, it wouldn’t surprise me if that attempt is big enough to piss us off and pull the plug entirely.
So player wants the move, club wants the move, Sassoulo have agreed the fee, player has said goodbye to his team mates and then comes in with demands so ridiculous that it shuts down negotiations? Given that Lauriente already has relationships with RLB and Le Feé, I think they already know his character. This doesn't seem like a likely scenario to me.
If we had the deal sorted in principle and they then tried to change it, we are well within our rights to pull out. Can't be seen to be messed around.
Right then so. We are officially back to no more here we go’s since Adingra (Lauriente doesn’t count now )
Guess i'd rather sort the situations we 100% know about first though. Not sure we can go into the first weeks of the season with Ballard and Seelt starting together, AFCON is 22 weeks away so I think we can kick that can down the road for a late deal in August
Yeah very true but quality players might not be hanging around that long to move clubs, especially if there is competition in the deals
Whatever the reason, I trust the club. I still personally think he’s either failed the medical, or something has shown up that’s made us wary of spending 20m.
