I honestly think this might end up for the best. I know it’s frustrating right now but it wasn’t sitting right with me how many specialist left wingers we had. I think we need a player who can cover left wing but specialise as a right winger or striker
Absolutely. Needs easing in and really long rehab and constant prehabilitation to ensure this doesn't happen again. The prem is so quick, will need the odd bench appearance IMO.
That’s a shame that like. Was our first deal to be sorted after a bit of a wait and was all but done Sad as I really liked the look of him
Mmmm. He scored 1/3 of all career goals last season. 230 or so games too. Maybe he is a bit of a mid career bloomer? I just dont see a player to be massively missed. Only an opinion though.
Sunderland call off deal for Sassuolo forward Armand Lauriente SUNDERLAND have dramatically pulled the plug on their proposed deal for Sassuolo forward Armand Lauriente. The Black Cats had agreed the framework of a £17.5m deal for Lauriente, with the 26-year-old having flown to Portugal yesterday, where Regis Le Bris and his players are currently on a pre-season training camp. It was anticipated that the transfer would be concluded either today or tomorrow, with the bulk of an agreement already in place. However, problems began to emerge yesterday evening, and Sunderland officials have decided to call off talks and end their interest in Lauriente. It is understood that the Sunderland hierarchy were unable to reach a full agreement with all the relevant parties involved in the proposed transfer. As a result, the Black Cats have informed Lauriente, his representatives and officials at Sassuolo that they will not be continuing with their previous transfer plans. The breakdown of the deal is a blow given that Sunderland had focused in on Lauriente after holding preliminary talks with a number of attacking players in the last few weeks. The Black Cats' options in the wide-attacking positions were reduced last week when Romaine Mundle suffered a hamstring surgery that has resulted in an operation that means he will miss the start of the new season. However, the Black Cats have a number of alternative attacking options they could now revisit, with Le Bris' side due to return to pre-season action when they face Sporting tomorrow night. he did. Struggled to get into it and every time he got the ball he wanted to come inside onto his weaker foot rather than go wide. Most of his best stuff at Brugge was on the left.
Really hope that is the case. I would fancy Mundle becoming a better player over time. Bit raw, but technique and mentality are there in abundance.
Here me out, I’m wondering if the players camp has moved goalposts last minute as Mundles injury wasn’t public until after they’d flown, so club have shot them down and briefed the local journo’s to pressure them into continuing with the original agreement
I'm actually not that bothered if this deal has fallen through, said at the time it didn't make a lot of sense to me due to the players who can play LM already. I don't think Lauriente is a CF at PL level despite him playing there before. I really want us to sign a left footed RM to give us that balance then ise Talbi on either wing I'm pleased the club isn't being messed about (if that's what's happened) and hopefully we have someone else lined up
