I second this post. If a player can’t distinguish the difference between playing for Arsenal and playing for United beyond the Champions League next season, then good radiance.

I personally prefer proven player from within the league. Nothing is guaranteed but we don’t have the room to wait for players to settle into the league rhythm given where we are.

As for Gyokores, it is also worth nothing that Darwin Nunez was banging in the goals in Portugal but has struggled to transfer that to the Premier League. Goncalo Ramos is another example of a striker that was deadly in front of goal in Portugal but became an average striker in France. We might as well give the younger players a chance at this point.

That is one of the biggest load of bullshit players come out with.
If a striker is good enough to play in the CL then he will score the goals to get us there.

DCL would be fine for free and a decent wage, he can score goals and is a threat in the air which we don't have at the moment.
Get rid of Rasmus, keep Zirkzee and get DCL on a free to start the window then use the Rasmus money to put towards a good/great striker to replace him.

Even easier, he could just stay at Lisbon who just won the league to qualify as champions.

I'd guess that if we did just go for DCL then Hojlund would stay.

It's not really Hojlund we need to be getting rid of, it's the four who have allegedly asked to leave.

He was banging them in against top teams in the CL last season so there can be no doubting his ability.

I wish the him the best, but there is no such thing as “no doubt” about the ability of players coming into the league fresh. We have seen this with many strikers coming in from the Portuguese league.

Darwin Nunez was scoring for fun in Portugal then moved to Liverpool and scored nothing like the same rate in England, so its hard to say.

The Premier League is certainly not striker friendly. If a striker can make it in England, they invariably become gods in other leagues. But the same is rarely true for those coming fresh into the league.

i did warn our board that having watched a video of all his goals in the season prior to us buying him that
    a) there was a lot of pens in there
    b) the standard of GK's in Portugal was ****ing pitiful

On Nunez he actually had a good season for us but had ****e luck hit a good shot goalie makes great save , smashes 30 yarder past keeper always hit post/bar and never goes in off them so his figures looked bad

I'd hoped that these long, drawn out summer transfer sagas were a thing of the past - obviously not. Other clubs (except Arsenal) are swooping up players left right and centre but not us, each summer we seem determined to make a drama out of our transfers just so we can screw up pre-season - we can't be more than a million or so away from Brentford's valuation so just pay the man and tie the player down.

Arsenal have signed Zubimendi , Notgaard , Kepa plus they have nearly completed on Mosquero (sp) so they've hardly been sluggish .

Or it could be that we're refusing to pay United tax, which we've all objected to previously?

Push comes to shove, if Brentford keep ****ing about, Mbuemo will just hand in a transfer request and leave anyway.

I don't see why United should just pay the extra, because it's them.

    **** that, and **** Brentford.

Happy to accept reverse United tax to get Sancho, Rashford and Garnacho out of the door though.

It’s bs, really! I want Mbuemo in the team so badly. But when the other team is not negotiating in good faith, I would be even more impressed if we could tell them to fk off in public than paying extra to get the player.

Ok, so that's another done, and not bent over and bummed in the process.

    Who's next?

Of all the rumours, I hope the one involving Martinez from Villa is the one that pans out.

This has to be the most exciting forward line up we have had in years. These are two proven talents but we need to make it work on the pitch which is a wait and see. If it clicks, it will be amazing to watch because they are all in their prime.

I watched 'highlight reels' of both these signings and the thing that struck me was not just the talent of the individual players, but the dynamic movement of their team mates, something we simply don't have in and around the box. I just hope we can create enough options in the final third to allow these two to play their usual game.
