Would make sense if we can get a decent free 4th choice back up in to sit behind Egan, Hughes and Semi whilst cashing in 2.5 mil for 2 other back up defenders I guess.

As long as the wages of those coming in aren't higher than Jones and Macca. Feels to me like Dublin is making some smart changes to freshen up the squad and reducing the expenditure.

    Stepping it up
Millar and Belloumi were both out on the training pitch and doing their own work. The pair were doing their own programme with and without the ball, and at one point, Millar managed the best part of 90 metres in just over nine seconds, and he looked rapid.

During a shooting drill at the end, Millar had one pop and stuck it in the top corner, much to the amusement of the watching Slater and Crooks. The Canadian was keen to keep going, but the fitness coaches had to hold him back and make sure he didn't do too much.

    Good spirits
One thing that’s been apparent all week has been the good spirits amongst the squad. That was typified towards the end of the session with a shooting drill at both ends of the pitch with the players taking pot shots. Semi Ajayi, Cody Drameh and a pearler from Ryan Giles were particularly eye-catching.

Of course, the week has been full of graft and hard work, but throughout it, Jakirovic has been keen to foster a really positive environment, and it's shone through.

We sold longman to a league one club for 500k, McLoughlin has gone to a play off chasing championship club for the same amount.

It's a **** deal and it makes no sense considering he was the best left back at the club.

If we'd have signed Macca in Jan for £2m and he was Brazilian, fans would've been raving about how good he was at LB.

Er no they wouldn’t, well not if you actually know about football that is… as a makeshift left back he did a job and to be truthful that was about it….

As a makeshift left back he was more than competent, and in most games he played at CB he was more than capable and technically strong - no idea where the comment above about him being technically deficient comes from. Yes he struggles with pace but he wouldn't be the first CB to have that as a weakness who can still do a good job at this level. To only get 500k is bonkers.

We had the 4th best defence in the league when he played at LB and he improved us there defensively. The numbers/stats don't agree with your perception.

He was a more traditional LB, instead of this new breed where they're more like wingers but a defensive liability. Call me odd, but I quite like having defenders that can defend.
