i was in buckston brown house in 1968 briefly, then returned to hannah pickard for a year around 1969/70 left for a year then returned back to bucky brown from 1971 till 1978. we used to get free city passes but i went regardless all the time i was in the homes. im struggling trying to think who you might be if you were a similar age to me, unless you are dead?
its just my sense of humour. at times i am an idiot. however big city fans murray and tosh ocallaghan RIP john paddison RIP carl forth RIP all good mates of mine for a time. but they were in after you. i was only 7 in 1968 so cant remember much apart from the baileys gresswells d.saltmer holgates wallers. give us a clue which house and ill try and remember but wont out you on here. or you could send me a pm?
David Gresswell, Dennis Saltmer David and Alex?.we was in St Andrews and Buxton Brown and a little girl who wore glasses who always sang "where's my momma gone".
i could tell you many stories of some of the stuff murray got up to. he went to marist for a while then to hull grammer? he was quite a few years younger than me. died in the 90's on a motorbike. him and his brothers names are on one of those plaque/brick things on the concourse east stand. or at least they were 10 years ago.
dave saltmer, there were too many davids in the house including my brother so the house parent ida guest renamed him Dee. it was written on his locker and everyone called him Dee. wonder what his parents thought about that? david gresswell had an older brother howard. alex fairgrieves? or alex mckenzie? they were both in bb. one of them scottish and died gangrene of the bowel aged 14. there was a lad who fell to his death from the roof of the church opposite. just before i went in.
one of the 3 well know brothers who went to city told me murray had something similar to a protection racket whilst at grammer. he could put a pint glass inside his mouth and down the beer in seconds. he could eat a bag of crisps similar time and could eat a packet of cigarettes. he always had a smile on his face. got charged with manslaughter along with his pal a few yrs before he died. but it was his pal who struck the blow. his eldest brother john was my age but we didnt get on. his elder brother tony/tosh used to come to city with me for quite a while. originally from morecambe? he had tapes of the riots on the falls road and used to ring up his school with an irish accent saying there was a bomb in your building. he was a loveable maverick
That’s really sad about Murray, though I’m actually not surprised, he was quite a character. I remember when he started at our junior school, he was cocky as ****, I can remember thinking that I’ll end up giving him a slap, a couple of days later he absolutely battered the hardest kid in our year. I decided to be mates with him after that.
