I think that’s mostly because they were put out of joint by the suggestions both our players chose us over them, versus their version of the truth which is we were willing to pay more. Either way I don’t really care - if we’ve overpaid it’s good on us for being decisive and bad on them for being hesitant.
Rigg could develop the same way jobe did last year, as could Mayenda and the others. Lot of potential we already have
Rigg is deceptively quite tall met him pre season last year always thought he was small, seems to be filling out as well
Redbull scouting network and connections too To be honest, there are plenty of Leeds fans and equally as many Sunderland fans waving the our signings are better than yours flag. If it was all about Leeds v Sunderland then we’ll both risk going down. We both need each other to make good signings, we need to both stay up. I’m over the moon with our signings, some good bargains early doors and Longstaff was a steal, we’ve seemingly got Stach and if we get Paixao then it’s going to jump a whole new level.
What I can’t grasp is the Leeds love in on TikTok about Sunderland massively overpaying for everyone we’ve signed apparently, all initiated by offering £4m more than you for a very highly rated midfield prospect - yet £20m for a nearly 27 year old Stach is apparently incredible business.. then the same folk saying we’re signing players from poor leagues (think every signing we’ve made has been from a top 5 league) whilst you’re looking at Paixao from Eredivisie. £10m isn’t a lot of money really in the grand scheme of things when Diarra will likely go up in value and Stach is probably as expensive as he’ll ever be unless he turns into a world beater this season. I’ve never heard of any fanbase complain that they’re spending too much money, as long we play by PSR then it means **** all. I’d hedge my bets one of us gets relegated so come the end of the season one set of fans will undoubtedly come back to haunt the other over all of this nonsense anyway
He's the player I'm most intrigued to be watching this season ... ... at times, in the Championship you could see him biting his tongue when he was virtually having to show players where to run. If he can get the likes of Diarra to 'block off' opposition midfielders it'll be like watching American Football. I can see him knocking the ball almost half the length of the pitch for wingers coming off the halfway line. Defenders will have to be very quick off their marks to turn and keep up with them ... ... in fact I can envisage our play being quite simplistic with transitions of three or four touches before a goal attempt.
