Worrying that we have Giles as seemingly first choice. I’d rather have moved him off if possible. He’s gash.
Hull Live saying we took £500k for McLoughlin, so don't bank on £2m for Jones. This lot would take anything.
Someone asked Baz on X why we’re sanctioning outgoings but not bringing anyone in until the appeal is ruled on and he replied saying he thinks it’s because City want to show the EFL that they have money coming into the club via player sales.
I think both are fair prices for those players, if anything I think they’d be overpaying for Jones. The problem is us not being able to sign anyone to replace them.
£500k is a pisstake for McCloughlin. Blackburn have had our pants down. He was a first team regular last season and he's not a 'Johhny Sicknote' who we seem to get lumbered with. We must be desperate.
Calls to keep Fleming?! Derry City Fleming?! **** off… Jacob maybe. Macca wanted first team footy, he’s on the last year of his deal as an old champ clogger with absolutely zero pace or technical ability, decent 4/5th choice centre half, his left back performances were cack. Sat back and if he ever got forward to support we got burned, it’s part of the reason we scored no goals it’s all about management of risk. Playing a 3rd (very slow square turning circles) centre half in a left back is precisely one of the reasons we was absolutely toothless, solid but toothless. No issues with Macca but 500k is about right for a limited 30 year old squad player with a year left who also wants to leave ffs.
maccas big flaw is no pace but his awareness, reading of the game, ability to play a pass is all very very good
A players value is whatever clubs are willing to pay. The fact nobody else was interested says it all about him. He is a back up player at this level and nobody else fancied him, even at 500k and a penny. He was a first team regular because we had no left back. There is plenty to throw at the club right now but selling a plodder for half a mil is not one of them. Its good business. We have Hughes, Egan and Jones. Plus some promising youngsters. And a semi.
