This highly anticipated clash, dubbed a "Viking twist" on the classic rivalry, is expected to draw a vibrant crowd, reflecting both clubs' substantial Scandinavian fan bases. For Leeds United, this match marks their first outing of the summer and a triumphant return to Premier League opposition following their dramatic Championship title win. Buoyed by their successful campaign, Daniel Farke is expected to field a starting XI, blending last season's heroes with new signings like Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jaka Bijol. The game will also offer Farke a chance to experiment with new midfield systems and integrate potential future arrivals. Manchester United, however, enter this pre-season on the back of a truly dismal 2024/25 Premier League season, finishing 15th with their lowest goal tally in the Premier League era. Manager Rúben Amorim, despite being appointed mid-season, failed to reverse their fortunes, as a "toxic" dressing room and disjointed strategy plagued the club. Pressure is already mounting on Amorim, a fact Leeds fans will be keen to highlight. Squad changes are underway at Old Trafford, with several senior players, including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, reportedly seeking moves away. Goalkeeper André Onana is sidelined with injury, but new signing Matheus Cunha is poised to make his debut, offering a glimmer of hope. This encounter promises to be a telling pre-season test for both sides, each with vastly different recent experiences.
Graham Smyth reporting Bamford hasn't travelled but Harrison has. Apparently Bamford,Gelhardt and Greenwood are with the u21's and are ready to be moved on. Why take Harrison though, no one wants him anywhere near the club.
In case we don't get the left winger we want? I still think we'll get Solomon. He's not getting in at Spurs. We might get him late. Until then Harrison will be a bench option.
Surprised about Bamford, thought he’d be useful squad 4th option. I think Farke will like Harrison. I could see a world where we get Paixco and sell Ramazani and have our 4 wingers as Harrison, Paixco, Gnoto & James.
Im not sure it makes financial sense to sell Ramazani. We paid around £10 million for him last summer. We can't sell at a loss as that impacts our transfer kitty.
Looking forward to this one Been ages since we've played A serious Chance to smash scum New kit New, hopefully improved back line An excuse for an early beer or 10
Ramazani kills us defensively in the PL, he couldn’t do the hard work in the Championship. Think he’s got potential and is potentially better attack wise than Harrison but defensively Harrison is a much better player.
Are you sure you are on the right player. One of Ramazanis strengths is his willingness to work back and help his full back. He's not great defensively but he will track back. Just checked, he has 43 yellow cards and 2 reds. He's not afraid to do the ****ty stuff going the other way.
Its Fabrizio sealed. 'Here we go!' That has the potential to be a season defining signing. Hopefully his qualities transfer over to the Premier League as the guy is a beast.
