Erm that was a shocking penalty shootout but **** it win the game and go through is what matters. Might need to practise some pens next few days though
There was some tragic efforts and tbh some of it was so bad you have to wonder how pro players.we allowed be so bad even for their clubs. Thry were standing square on making it impossible hit it any way but straight or to the side the keeper just dove. The one where the player stood two steps from thr ball and pass it to the keeper nearly was so bad a 10 year old would or should be ashamed. England were out but Sweden did have anyone capable of kicking a ball down the middle of the goal. Before the start the commentator said you cant practice pens. Eh, clearly you can. That was embarrassing all round. My wife said so. I wasnt even the exist one about it in our house.
Christ, didn't think penalties could get any worse than last nights efforts, but that Spanish Pen was truly one of the worst I've ever seen. Wasn't even close in the end.
Watching this Euros and it seems to me that all the players play or have played for Arsenal or Chelsea. So I looked into it Arsenal currently have 34 players in their squad, Chelsea have 39. By comparison: Man City have 30, Man U have 25 and Liverpool have 20 (including 3 who have literally just signed). No wonder the WSL is completely worthless. 3 clubs hoarding players, do they not have registration rules? Why are those players willing to sit around and not play? They want competitive women's football in England, then they have to restrict Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City from just signing to sign players and let some of the other clubs get a look in, cause at the moment what's the incentive for ourselves and others from developing when those 3 can just have whoever they want. Either that or the WSL will go belly up and their only option would have to be a European Super League.
Top 3 in the WSL is a closed shop,we finished 4th season before last but couldn't make the step up this season gone. A disappointing campaign with one bright spark,Olivia Smith...........who signed for Arsenal yesterday for a world record fee
Personally I think they need to introduce proper registration rules for the women. Max 25 player squad (under18/21s? exempt), like the men's and then have loan rules as well, one over 23 and a max of 5/6 in total out on loan at one time (tbh the men's game needs this as well) Would encourage players to move to 'lesser' clubs to ensure they play and stop the hoarding, both for the men's and women's game.
I imagine being squad number 29 out of 30 at Arsenal pays double what you’d get at one of the lower clubs. Moan about men taking the money because really what’s difference between 200k a week and 150k a week but at women’s football, short careers and really do need to earn as much as they can.
