You get what people are willing to pay. If he was worth more and that good pther clubs would have been in for him. He was a decent squaddie. We have better at the club and need to free up wages as much as bring cash in. Jones, as you say, is worth more.
You can say that about most players. A Sheffield utd fan I know laughs his head off that Slater gets in our team (I agree with him to be fair). Macca was probably 5th choice. Why would we turn down enough money to cover a few players wages for a year including a cheap back up for Giles that is actually a left back?
Macca is in his final year, so that will affect the value. Still as it stands he's our primary left back cover assuming Giles steps up, so seems a risk if we're unable to sign a replacement.
Yes,these are the type of player that we don't require anymore because, let's face it, they're in the 'they're 'Sh!t' and we're not bracket(I think Vaughans on that type of salary, maybe not,I'm sure some pedant will come along and correct me)? ...We're more into the fashionable,go broke, sanction type figures of £45k that are getting banded about. So yes,£500k,that'll cover McBurnie for example for 11 weeks and there'll be enough lose change left for fish and chips from Avenues Chip Shop for Acun and half a dozen of his Lickspittles
Oh ****!!! Not another wet wipe that doesn't stick a lucky 15 on when the horses are on the telly and thinks that anyone that does is morally corrupt. Hull,City of the pure and virtuous
As I said it's 2 x players wages for a year plus macca off the wage bill. As long as we get a better version of furlong in it will be sound business.
Name, link,is he playing next season? As much as your argument is correct,so is mine, think about that sometimes Jim..
I wasn't arguing with you Ric, you're right some of the players are crap and they're on way less than 4k a week too. I was just pointing out, to back up my point, that the sale of Macca will cover 2 first team players wages which is great when you consider he was about 5th in line now.
That narrows it down to probably Pandur, Coyle, Jones, Macca or Slater. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s Pandur as wages in the Eredivisie, especially a club like Fortuna Sittard, aren’t great and the other four signed extensions under Rosenior that most likely had wage increases to at least five figures.
The one I was talking about is in there but I wouldn't have thought Joseph or Burstow would be breaking 4k a week either. That's speculation based on what I know league 1/2 players are earning. But, with Tan and Acun nothing would surprise me.
You're perfectly within your rights to question what I type and your figures are correct if you consider 2 players at £250k will be playing for us next season...By the same token and formula my figures also tally as it would cover 11 weeks of McBurnies wages if he were playing for us next season. It's all relevant Jim.
It's all well and good saying that £500k covers two players wages based on what some of our players earn currently, but if it's those cheaper players who are being sold then that won't be the case for long. I don't have much faith that many of Acun's signings are playing for as little as that, nor that anyone we sign this window will be.
We need to free up Maccas wages? What was he on? Wasn't massive bucks, if things are that tight we are ****ed. Who could we get in for less wages as decent cover on a free? Also a squad is much much more than the first 11 as they're almost never all fit. I hate it when people, in general not you Jim, say oh he's not worth keeping as he wouldn't be playing, he played 36 times last season and I don't see the squad getting stronger in the near future with the clusterfuck we have going on!
Exactly, what was he on maybe 6 or 8... the same money we will have to pay someone else. From what I read Ajayi isn't someone who goes uninjured. Why if restrictions stop us getting that LB in if Giles doesnt meet the managers expectations. Smacks of robbing Peter to pay Paul. I appreciate he had one year left, who's to say he wouldn't have liked to extend if offered.
Acun has a habit of thinking that the club can do better when it comes to signing players but 9 times out of 10 we end up replacing Steady Eddies (like Jones and McLoughlin) with injury-prone, overrated crap on higher wages. We still haven’t signed a left-back who has been as dependable as Elder was and it’s been three years
