They'll believe we can sign get better as they have done year on year. When you had the 12th best defence yet the 24th best attack last season, it makes complete sense to rip up the defence. The 'ambition' always seems to beyond where we are. Talk of a top 6 or even top 10 feels unrealistic considering the situation. If we aimed for small realistic progress year on year, it does add up within a few years. And don't get me started on selling Macca, he's the best LB at the club, it makes no sense. He's actually a much better LB than he's given credit for
Unfortunately in my experience, the Turkish people I've dealt with are quite hard to do business with. They are terrible payers, want everything for nothing and always looking for shortcuts and underhand ways around things whilst making out to everyone else that they are successful and trustworthy. Not saying they are all like that but just my experience.
The selling of Jones and McLoughlin may make financial sence as they are unlikely to be worth more in the future, but Alzate and Puerta, would IMO likely be worth more at xmas, so you do ask yourself why does a businessman sell right now?
its looking like macca is all but confirmed to blackburn so we now have giles + furlong as left backs really low fee theyve paid for macca though
the owner has said multiple times, we have no financial troubles in all seriousness though, i bet we now sell jones for 1m max too we are that desperate, clubs know they can get low fees
Maybe this club loves being bum ****ed.... 500k for Macca of true, Blackburn must be laughing themselves silly... They probably offered a million to begin with. Compare ..500k Macca and £3 million which will turn out to be one million for AJ.
If Ehab was still the Chairman then yes I'd understand us selling players. He was all about getting higher returns on playing assets to pay the bills and balance the books. He made no claims to want promotion and he got us relegated by cutting our playing squad too thin. However, THIS owner has repeatedly, and recently, talked about his wish to get promoted to the EPL. He has apparently spent tens of millions trying. To be selling anyone who played regularly last season when we can't spend on replacements is nothing but a recipe for relagation IMHO. If we sell 3 or 4 players what are we going to spend the money on? Wages of loanees?
It's a bit cheap, you'd expect us to get £1m for him, though if it's true we're getting £3m for Alfie, it's decent money overall. A deal has already been agreed with another free agent centre back.
I wonder if it’s upfront. Half a million is enough to cover at least 2 players salaries for a year. If it covers the wages and convinces the EFL we can afford to bring in a free agent left back and Bistrovic, could be a good deal. Shame to lose Macca but we’ve got to wheel and deal at this point.
