Fair point, he is very reliable in that sense. I just think with how a lot of teams play now, he’s a bit too limited on the ball.

I'm surprised so many people say this about him. I think of him as quite a modern, neat and tidy defender. Rosenior seemed to think so too. I think that criticism applies more to Macca - he can ping a long ball but isn't great at the shorter stuff or when under pressure.

 

I'm sure that's the case. I remember when Chelsea had a transfer ban a few years ago they still managed to sign Kovacic (who they didn't even have an option/obligation for) because he'd already been registered the previous season. I feel like we could play Puerta if we really wanted to, I think he's more likely being left out because we intend to sell him, same with Alazate. Laalaoui most likely a different story though

Here's the thing, when asked why Puerta didnt play on Tuesday, they said it was an issue with his head... Strange thing to say if we cant play him.

 

If I were left in the kind of registration limbo that he finds himself in, then you bet your life there'd be an issue with my head too !
