Like the vast majority of Charlton fans who go to the games, Kojak is very impressed with our American owners, who have now invested £15m so far this summer in 7 new players, & a new deal for Leaburn. They cannot be faulted for their enthusiasm, although you would think otherwise on the (cough) football forum now known in some circles as Lardiman 606 (so dominant, gloomy and all pervasive is the current Mod). Kojak can only repeat his offer to return to 606 & get it flying again, along with other absent posters. Under Lardi’s doomed stewardship, 606 is currently about as interesting as a choral recital of the Chinese Yellow Pages, and about as topical as a 1976 Panini sticker album. You can’t have a Charlton forum where the Mod doesn’t know any of the players, tactics & transfer targets, and is so out of touch that he thinks Les Berry is a candidate to be our Young Player of the Year.
I'll make Kojak an offer. Bring your absent posters back right now, and "get the forum flying". From the moment you return, bringing at least two others with you, I won't post a single message for 30 days. If you and your chums are as good as your word and succeed in "getting the forum flying" in that time I'll step down as moderator and leave the forum. If you choose not to take up this offer, then stop carping from the shadows and using Elfs as your mouthpiece. Join the forum and contribute. That's how you build a community. Don't perpetuate this lie about my "dominance". All I'm doing is contributing to the community here - which is far more than you're currently doing. The notion that I'm keeping other fans away merely by my presence is laughable. Like Roland's ridiculous claim that Chris Wilder backed out of becoming Charlton manager at the last moment because someone on CL posted a rude message about him How soft a snowflake would you have to be in order to be scared off by such a mild-mannered and altogether pleasant fellow, if I do say so myself Can't see the forum flying anywhere if that flight is supposed to be achieved by members too timid even to post here in my presence
Nick, why don't you just post as an ordinary member, like the rest of us? None of us have any complaints about how Not606 is moderated.
I've had harder power struggles with the council over putting the right rubbish in each different coloured wheelie bin Suspected members of the hostile but exceptionally timid take-over group; 1) Dick 2) Erm... Dodger maybe? Though I had heard he's given up on forums. 3) Nope. That's it. Though to be honest I don't even really think DickPlumb is onboard. If he was, I think he would be up-front enough to post something himself. So I'm probably doing him a disservice. Prove me wrong Mr Sheriff, get your posse posting here and I'll give you the 30 days free reign as promised.
If you are ever unlucky enough to become too ill to attend Charlton games, I hope nobody stoops so low as to continually mock you for it. And why can you apparently not understand what a moderator's job is? You're not stupid. Moderators of forums are not leaders. They simply ensure that all members have a chance to fairly express themselves without fear of being picked on, and that nobody posts anything that is harmful to the forum community. They moderate. It is up to all members to provide as much expertise & opinions on tactics, players and any other aspects of the Club that they feel they wish to. If you or anyone else wants to tell other fans all about our latest signings, then share your knowledge and wisdom. Enrich the forum. I'm not standing in your way. I don't have to be an expert on everything CAFC to moderate this forum. I'm just a life-long fan. My current area of interest is our Club's history. And I have contributed far more towards sharing my discoveries about that than you have contributed towards sharing your knowledge of our Summer 2025 signings. You always seem to confuse a moderator's role with that of some kind of Ringmaster or ideological / political demagogue - like Reams. If you want to become the new Guru / President / Standard bearer for Not606 Charlton then go right ahead. If you're good at it then fans will flock to your banner. You might even "get the forum flying again". You don't need to be the moderator to do that. But you would need to actually post some of your insights and knowledge. That would be a good start don't you think?
