Some on X seem to think that the EFL blocking us from signing McBurnie based on our salary offer means they have imposed the Salary Cost Management Protocol on us, which usually only applies to League One and League Two clubs. Either that or the EFL have to ratify every free agent or loan transfer we make under the fee restriction on a case-by-case basis.
You dont end up with a comedy prop scroll list of charges unless you're crooked. Maybe they're not guilty of all of them, but there must be enough evidence to justify plenty of them, and if they're guilty they need a suitable punishment otherwise English football is dead.
Apparently, they will be cleared of all charges except one: refusing to cooperate with the investigation. That charge alone will get them a meagre points deduction and a hefty fine but the expectation is they will be found not guilty on all the charges relating to financial doping and paying people off the books. It’s also reported they will bring forward legal action against the media, pundits and even popular YouTubers for defamation unless they issue a public apology
I posted on the other thread, Baz seemed to think it was about us working with the efl on all deals to keep them happy. If we can find a way to do that then the restrictions could be lifted
The appeal process is more of a dialogue aimed at establishing we are on a sustainable footing. It's not cost salary management protocol at all, it's simply a case of the club/Acun proving we can meet future obligations. I think we can safely assume that paying a new signing 40k a week when we already owe 20m in scheduled transfer payments, against the backdrop of already missed payments and late wages isn't something that would help satisfy the EFL that we can meet future commitments sustainably.
Even if the fee restriction gets reduced or suspended for a period, there will still be a form of restriction in that whatever deals we do we will have to prove to the EFL we can afford as well as meet our current obligations.
Wrexham have ryan renolds and rob macc Swansea now have snoopdog and luka modric Whens brad pitt coming to city
Today was never going to be the day we found out if the ban was lifted. Seems it was just “next steps” day
Umberside now saying we won’t hear anything until after the season starts….best start on the freebies
You’d think there would be an urgency, after the season starts but that doesn’t mean before the window closes
A lot of it is legal wording & definition of the rules, did they break rules or bend them? Same could be said of Chelsea, for me, what they’re doing is blatant, but they’re not even in a conversation about breaking rules, because the rules are being bent.
Or we were never really in for him as we couldn’t afford him & it was just the usual spin on signings, before we trot out the ones with Turkish connections.
