I feel like I put a downer on things with my negative Xhaka drivel. So to make up for it I just watched the Habib Diarra video again. Worth a watch if you haven't since we confirmed him. I always watch them but try to forget them when linked but now I know he's ours this is exciting as anything.
Man Utd up offer for Mbuemo, obviously they've **** themselves about Newcastle's bid for Wissa. Brentford say only one will be sold, not both.
The reason all our deals were only known about until shortly before they signed before, is because, imo, the players involved weren't big names (in the EPL). Xhaka is a well known player, that means keeping things quiet is a lot harder. So it doesn't bother me and I don't think you can read too much into it being known about for a few days. It's a highly ambitious move for us. If we get it over the line it would be amazing. But if we don't it wouldn't be a surprise
Think they'll accept that. If Wissa leaves as well then Brentford are in trouble, although they will have a truck load of money to spend.
Correct mate. Not everything will be quiet I can guarentee we will make a few signing this summer that plays out in the media
https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Act...uth-pour-son-defenseur-bafode-diakite/1578779 Bournemouth and Sunderland have each made two offers of €27 million to afford Bafodé Diakité but Lille, where the 24-year-old defender is under contract until June 2028, has rejected both. The LOSC claims €40 million to agree to release the former Toulouse and his management does not seem to be about to hesitate on this subject. For his part, Diakité expressed his desire to join the Premier League. The team ADVERTISING He has already reached a contractual agreement with Bournemouth, as revealed on this site on July 3rd, but the idea of evolving under the orders of Régis Le Bris in Sunderland does not seem to displease him either. To get it, however, the two English clubs will have to spend more than what they have offered so far.
All this said, I do think we can't completely rule out how much stuff "breaking" in the media does affect how clubs behave in the transfer market. For instance with Ekitike and Newcastle, once it broke they were in for him, Liverpool seemingly hastened their efforts. And then once Newcastle are in for Wissa, Man Utd suddenly up their offer for Mbuema. I do completely agree that higher profile transfers WILL leak, and there's nowt we can do about it. But I don't think its unreasonable to think that our interest in Xhaka breaking in the media may have alerted some clubs to his availability. If media stories didn't affect how clubs act, agents wouldn't bother feeding stuff to news outlets.
One would think that might be too dear for us? But maybe they might settle for around the 35m euro mark?
I said when the link came out it would cost more than Diarra. 30 plus add ons maybe? he’s worth it he’s operating way above our level and the French links around the club might just put us ahead in this one against Bournemouth
This signinh would be impressive I could see us getting close or breaking our transfer record on a CB
I think we’ll break it on diakite, I wasn’t convinced we’ll get lucumi maybe it’s a smoke screen for diakite?
