It is similar to Barcelona 15/16, they signed Vidal and Turan, but both were unable to play until January.
its my understand that we own him, but cannot play him as he’s not registered with the EFL. He’s in no man’s land!
If the EFL are preventing us paying for players, then surely we don't own Puerta, given the transfer included a fee
The way I’ve always interpreted it is. We can pay for players. But the EFL won’t let us register anyone that we’ve paid a fee for. Similar to how Barcelona was signing players then having move things about to then register them. We probably contractually own Puerta but can’t register them.
I thought he was our player but we can’t register him for games in the EFL. Like buying a car with a suspended license.
As far as I know he is, he has signed a contract and we are paying his wages. The EFL decision means that the deal could well be invalid (which means the one for Laalaoui might well be the same) because it involved us paying a fee when we weren’t allowed to and therefore never actually happened. Presumably this will all become clear later today.
Nothing is being decided today. It’s only an indication of when we will we find something out. Cooper’s podcast has just come out so presume there’ll be some form of update in there.
Their current plight also means they're unlikely to be able to register Gustavo Puerta and Reda Laalaoui and risk losing both players under the terms of their current punishment by the authorities.
What if initial payments have been made, not only to clubs but agents, signing on fees etc. Have we pissed that up the wall too...?
Longest serving player. Played multiple positions last season. One of only 2 left footers at that position. He’s a good championship pro hence why a team like Blackburn are after him to replace the CB they lost to Derby.
as far as im concerned, if macca leaves giles has one hell of a job to replace him. its risky business losing a player like macca
