I think it's a mathematical and prestige based guarantee Liverpool get the player. It's of course being claimed as some kind of great play by the great Liverpool, but the fact is they failed to buy Isak and were forced to get their second choice. The fact Newcastle have kept Isak despite media desperation for someone to take him away from Newcastle all season is the win, but they conveniently tap dance around it. Perhaps it was Newcastle with the great play? Liverpool sniffing around annoying Isak, so Newcastle said go and buy Ekitike or we will and you're not getting Isak then are you.
