His last season with Arsenal he played 37 out of 38 league games. These last two seasons for Leverkusen he’s played 33 out of 34 games, in both seasons. That doesn’t suggest he’s incredibly prone to injury?
My bad mate ... confused him with Shaqiri ... In fairness, Esteban Cambiasso was a huge factor in our staying up in 2014/15 after our promotion ... and you know what happened the season after? - hope he is a similar catalyst for you ...
Cheers mate, I don’t hold out any hope for winning the league, though It would be nice to lift a cup in the next few years. I could see that happening with the momentum we have now (assuming we stay up this coming season)
Just the kind of experienced signing you need, a couple of CB's now and you're looking like you have a chance.
He's incredibly prone to red cards, not injuries. Not sure why he'd sign for you though, regular player and winning trophies at Leverkusen, why would he swap that for a (likely) Prem relegation battle?
With or without Xhaka, I think we’ve already got a decent chance of staying up, if we can bring in at least one next level CB and a GK. I don’t think Patto is good enough for the premier.
Why would Talbi swap champions league football for a potential relegation scrap? **** knows, but he did. Why would Reinildo leave Ath Madrid and champions league football for a relegation scrap? Again, **** knows, but he did.
I can't get my head around the Isak thing. All good fun with the bantz like but are we really in for him? I have my doubts as we're usually pretty up front about transfers and I'd have expected a bid by now. We've got a couple of players in Nunez and Elliott that could go the other way although I'd like us too keep Elliott Slot isn't going to. If Newcastle end up with this Ekitike, Nunez and Elliott would that be a good deal for them?
I assume Ekitike was always a target for Liverpool, plus Slot knows we'd be mental with Isak and Ekitike up front, so doesn't want to let that happen. This seems quite tactical from Liverpool, but it's worked, and put them in pole position for Ekitike. Likely outcome now that we keep Isak and you sign Ekitike, back to where we were from our end, but it was quite an audacious bid from us tbh.
You're not on their radar mate. Or anyones yet. You all need to stop kidding yourselves, please. Winning a league cup doesn't make Newcastle a league contender, or anyone's rivals bar Sunderland.
We're in the ascendancy and are likely to improve on last year, and having Isak and Ekitike up front was clearly going to make us improve. I was talking about players, Isak and Ekitike clearly ARE on Liverpool's radar, and they clearly didn't want us to have both. The "wah wah, they're bigger than you" isn't relevant here.
In what basis are you 'likely' to improve? What happened last time you added champions league in to the fixtures, remind me again?
The fact we're a better team than then, the fact we have Tonali playing now, the fact Isak stays fit now, the fact Botman is properly fit and we'll sign another defender and the fact we'll sign another decent striker (Wissa looking likely right now). But yeah, obviously exactly the same thing will happen again
