Basics this mind, anyone on the street knows this about planes. It's easier than "What did Dirty Den give Ange for Christmas".
At the end of the day there are very few guaranteed good transfers as there are too many variables to take into account. Good players move to clubs and flop, not so good players move to clubs and thrive. We don’t know how our new players will settle, or if they will be a success. I for 1 think we are blending what we have with what we need quite well and building a stronger squad which leads to a stronger team. I just hope our fans do not forget about the young players developing in our squad in their fervour for premier league quality, as there is a good chance we may already have some.
My worry is people getting ahead of themselves and having unrealistic ambitions. A lad at work thinks we'll finish top half. I can see people turning if we don't get early points on the board.
I agree, I think unrealistic expectations have been a big problem over the last few years in the fan base. Hopefully people stick by the lads even if it looks like we're going down.
I’ve not heard a single one of us say anything other than ‘we can stay up’. Expectation level seems fine to me.
I agree our aim is 17th. If we build a squad and blow that out the water so be it. It’s going to be a long slog
I think they are tempered right now but you know how the SOL can get when people feel like their expectations aren't being met. Just hoping everyone understands how hard its going to be.
My experience is from people at work and on the likes of Twitter. The SAFC pendulum is just one news break away from swinging in either direction.
I could not agree more…we got promoted following a plan and a process. We seem to be adapting that process for the PL…it sounds daft but we brought Brown in for his experience. It seems like he played a big role in the young players on, that worked so well he didn’t play much…Xhaka is (on any basis) a huge step up from Brown but he might (if those around him progress) play a similar role but with more game time. Imagine if you are Chris Rigg and getting changed next to him in training… We will struggle at times next season but let’s just get behind the lads on the pitch and see how it plays out. HTL ps - I’m getting a home shirt regardless how crap it looks with a white square on the back!
I said after promotion with the right new signings and natural progression of the young squad we’d be top 12. I still believe that, but neither will I moan if we don’t stay up. The club are doing everything possible to give us a chance and it’s self sustainable. That’s all I’ve ever wanted as a supporter.
