Well to get out of the current depression I will relate part of my 2300km trip to the UK. Monday morning last, Mme. was tucking into a bowl of cereal when she thought that she had come across a piece of stone in her mouth. Fishing the offending piece out, it looked remarkably like a bit of tooth. It was, and we were due to depart within the hour. Looking at our journey around the UK we came to the conclusion that there was a small slot in the journey between Leeds and Aylesbury to visit the dentist in Banbury that she still is signed up with. A phone call asking if there is any chance for some treatment gets the response that they will phone back later. Tuesday morning there is a message on the mobile asking if we can make it for midday when the dentist will do something. Leaving Leeds early we arrive in Banbury with time to spare, and in twenty minutes Mme has a full size tooth. We then decide to pop up to Sainsburys to get things that are on our list of things to bring back. "Hello, haven't seen you two for sometime" says a lady who looks familiar, but I cannot work out who she is. We stand and exchange conversation about France and various things for ten minutes before it finally dawns on me that she lived two doors away from us in Northants. Asking her to pass on good wishes to a couple of ex-neighbours we part. Mme. then asks me just who we have been talking to? Four and a half years really does clear out the memory disc of things that are no longer important.
...it is amazing how, with absence, you can work out who is important and who isn't. An eventful few days by the sound of things M Frenchie. Next time, you really must time it with a trip to the Vic...it would be lovely to meet you!
I agree, It would be great to meet the man behind the screen. I think we all look up to you Frenchie (i know i do!) and i am certain everyone here enjoys reading your posts.
You are just being kind to person who might be a total bore in real life. My next trip, teeth permitting will be in April, and for me to make two matches in a season is unheard of these days. Still I do have the excuse of having to take a second grandson along. I am still peeved that I got so close to H yet only managed a wave before being swept along on the tide. Since then Dan has become a second half attachment, so you never know, I might catch two birds from the nest at the same time. Also I know where w_y stands at the bar.
My final offering before I take to my bed, French class in the morning, ugh, takes the form of a tip. If you have to leave an opened bottle of Bordeaux for several days, pop it in the fridge. When you get back let it warm up to room temperature, then you will find that it is as good as when you left it. That comes from a French neighbour and I can vouch for the truth of it.
that would be superb! I am very good at booking the seats next to me so let me know if you want them It would be wonderful to see you! And then you can take us to see w_y! lol
I am sure you are not a bore. As with the rest of us i bet your posts reflect your true personality. I would love to meet you, i would certainly pop over if i knew you were about. I also know where he stand, but i have yet to meet him! Its just my luck. In case i dont see you before you go, night mate. Sleep well.
