Might as well get on with signing some freebies now. BC saying in HDM that the club are hoping the hearing will be heard before the end of the month. Even if sanctions are removed completely (Sounding unlikely IMO) that could leave as little as 9 days before the season starts to get some decent players in.

Expecting an appeal decision from EFL is unlikely in double quick time. They will be looking gather all evidence and supporting information for the appeal, and if they have had concerns with the way City has been run over the past few months, this will take additional time and money.

When legal bods and bean counters get involved, things slow down, costs tend to mount up and complications crop up.

I think we can forego the current window for paid transfers and try to focus out on deals that meet the free transfer and fee-free loans framework that has been put in place by the EFL.

we joke....but I wonder if there's pressure on the EFL here.....if and it's a big if, the hearing is a while away and we end up being successful are they liable to be sued for preventing us making signings earlier in the window, or at all if it runs past end of aug

Good luck with that.. similar to the points deductions in the PL for PSR breaches you just have to roll with it.

Rumour is Man City are going to walk away with a 3-point deduction and a fine from their investigation.

What's the point in a fine they're richer than God.

The only point in fining them is if it's huge, say 3 billion, and then it's distributed to any teams in the EFL who's name can't be coloured in...

The Man City thing is such a can of worms because people seem to be convinced that they're guilty already and the question is just about how big the punishment is.

The reality is they haven't yet been found guilty. If they are found guilty of all of the charges and yet the punishment isn't severe, then that would seem outrageous and people would rightly be annoyed. If they are found guilty of only a small number and then get an appropriately minor punishment, people will still be annoyed and will say it's a stitch up, even though it will really just be a reflection of a thorough legal process. Obviously there is the argument that their expensive lawyers may have helped them get off with some of the charges also.

I think some people think that the PL will go easy on them, but from what I've read and heard on the subject, the PL are actually really keen to come down hard on them, and it's just a question of whether they can successfully prove them guilty on all of the charges. I think many people don't realise that the PL are the ones bringing the charges against them, and that it would be a defeat for them if Man City get off lightly.
