One of my least fav courses. Any course that thinks 300+ plus yards is a par 3 misses the point of golf. Mind you, if I were designing I wouldnt have a par 3 longer than 170.
Yeah I think there's so many more creative ways at making courses harder than just making them longer. I want the best players to be punished for not hitting fairways
I want to see par 3s that really test short iron accuracy. There is nothing better on golf than a 9 iron that needs to land on a 10 foot saucer or you are 25 feet away. Give them a 125 yard par 3, surround it by sand and water. Much more exciting to watch (and play). No real shock the best holes in golf are the short par 3s that bring real jeopardy to a score card.
it’s an ugly brute of a course. Some holes are just a bit dumb. And there’s a freeway running through the middle of it. Completely mixes up the leaderboard though. I like that aspect.
The Open starts tomorrow...who do you all fancy? I'm going for Matt Fitzpatrick..he seems to hitting some form...As an outsider I'll go with Ryan Fox
Three picka for me. Rory looked in good form last week. This is the course he would most like to win on. Tyrell Hatton. Links golf expert and really good in Opens. Marco Penge. In a great run and looked really solid in Scotland last week.
I watched most of last week's Scottish Open. Mcllroy had a shocking first day (by his standards) but proved what an amazing player he is over the next 3 days. I watched Penge in the BMW Championship the week before, and like last week, he was a tad erratic but very a massive driver of the ball when he's on it. Great shout. I would love Hatton to win it and in his speech afterwards tell all the suits to Fook Off. Love his character. For me I'm going for the exceptional Scotty Scheffler. His stats this year are crazy good. 3 wins, 9 top ten finishes and not missed a cut in 15 starts this year. Worse finish was T25th
I love Scheffler. Such a complete golfer. Rahm not far behind and he has been solid all year too. If Rory had their consistency, at the top of his game, he would be at the very elite level in history.
I do like Fleetwood. I just think he lacks some tee distance to really stick with the main boys. Sadly distance off the tee seems to bring more and more rewards each season.
I'm i'm honest, I would love Fleetwood to win, he has been a superb golfer and plays the game the right way...just think, for this major, he doesn't have the form..really hope i'm wrong
