You're right about the shape of the sleeve but players tend to moan about set in sleeves. Wigan Warriors have moaned this season about their training gear which is a set in sleeve and restrictive, especially in the gym.
The collar is terrible and not one I have seen many teams use from their templates. Our factory did them for Western United 24/25 with that collar and I wondered if it was a new one. Looks like it will be used across a few clubs. As you've said a simple rib in the centre would have made it so much nicer and probably more comfortable to wear too.

Is it made of wool? I thought modern football shirts were made of wicking polyester.

Its made under licence, templates and fabrics have to be strictly followed, so there should be no difference whatsoever in a garment to make it 'cheap' compare to another.
Our factory makes for Kappa Australia and Scandinavia and there is no choice but to use the right fabric and spec sheets otherwise you would be gone.

Kappa use Z692 fabric, ribbed 160gsm polyester. You can see the lines in the pictures.

Is there a good explanation for why the shirts look piss-wet through? I remember Villa players complained about their Castore kits a few years ago for the same reason.

I would not expect it to be that fabric, local grassroots teams such as Springhead, Sproatley Juniors and Easington amongst many others have been using it for the last 5 years as we also have it as an option in our range. Where are you seeing it wet through?

We took an Aston Villa match shirt to Pakistan in 2023 and tested it against our ThermoDri fabric and errea Ti-energy and the lycra content in the Castore one was something like 3 times more than the other two which is why the water was holding in it, it was like a wetsuit! I mentioned this before on here and tried to post videos of the tests but I am useless at uploading on here. Castore had shown their lack of experience and used a totally unsuitable fabric it seems, either that or tried to be too clever without testing it in real situations first.

Without seeing the image you're talking about it is hard to say but that Z692 fabric would not be the issue. If there is an issue they have maybe used a different fabric which Kappa would not be happy about.

Having just read this post back I should also apologise for being a boring ****.

Weirdly enough, the shirts in the first half had massive wet patches even before kick-off but the shirts of the players who came on in the second half look much drier and are holding up.

Maybe the players who started the first half were wearing the replica shirts by mistake? I assume replicas are made of cotton or less breathable polyester.

This is what I meant, Jim. Is this normal for a football shirt? Just seems like there’s an issue with moisture-wicking.

    Not boring at all, informative.

I played for Springhead before I moved up here, we were sponsored by ABI Caravans, we had a lovely tracksuit.
