There is currently a theory going around that the £60m release clause in Morgan Gibbs-White's contract at Forest was supposed to be a relegation release clause, but somebody forgot to type the word "relegation"...
If that's true it might scupper the deal because courts can correct drafting errors if there is evidence of what was really intended.
If all parties agreed that to be the case. If MGW and his management team dispute that 'omission' (which I'm sure they would) then Forest would be pissing in the wind.

Boring now. Someone who actually knows something needs to come out (not just one side of the story from Forest) and say something. Has a complaint been filed? Who to? What’s the process for resolving the complaint? I assume we’ll still be looking at the other positions we need in the background but dragging this out from Forest or the authorities does no one any good as spurs want him before the pre-season tour, the player wants to move and Forest are hindering themselves by keeping an unhappy player rather than having £60 mill to go and strengthen themselves. Last years golden boys suddenly becoming a little unpopular with this and the palace debacle. Murillo and milenkovic might not get away with as much next season.
I wonder if the club will go and make a public move towards someone like James McAtee (who by the way is a phenomenal young player in his own right - moves like Bernardo Silva and would be the player I want if we don’t get MGW) just to try and force someone’s hand. I don’t know if Forest really need the cash now Elanga has gone but the player and his agents seem to really want the move to Spurs to happen.

I think this gets done… it’s probably just gonna take longer than I initially thought it might. I originally guessed the complaint would hold us back by about 48-72 hours but maybe it could be a week or two. Rumours are Frank is the one pushing for the signing and Gibbs-White himself wants the move, so even if it results in us lobbing an extra £5m-£10m to Forest to get it done then so be it (though we shouldn’t have too assuming release clause is valid).
