She never said why but I'm sure she had a hiden reason but my mam always supported their fund raising events. Summer fair and bonfire night were big at that time.

    Re: Newland Homes...
Back in the day, they did a cracking 'fun day' to use the modern parlance...I think they referred to it as a 'fete' in those days. Might have been around Easter, but maybe later in the year because the weather always seemed to be ok.

They had many Fete's or event days help raise money, had quite a bit of open space between each of the homes in there, also had a small school inside for younger kids when we was in there, my brother died while we was in there, always had to go bible reading classes at the church every Sunday morning on Newland Ave which was just across the road.

Used to be run by a Mr Oliver who oversaw all of the homes inside and each home had it's own head and staff to people visiting they seemed nice but most were ****ing ****s.

Peter Adamson was a regular visitor going to each of the homes in there so shows what type of **** they overlooked.

I also got a photo with Princess Anne when she visited the Homes.

He got away with it, then admitted on tape to a tabloid journalist that he was guilty. But when the police asked the journalist for the tape he said he'd lost it!!
