Another day, another incident of Trump being a flaccid cock of a president with no International influence.

People thinking this probably means a bit of PR wouldn’t go amiss but they’ve never been great at popularity contests.

**** knows. There must be a legitimate charity amongst the thousands of grifters. Fosse is doing a sponsored cry on Saturday.

I don’t think anyone on here watched it.

Beyond this thread nobody gives a rats arse or a moments thought about what’s happening out there.

Why would we? To care about Israel/Palestine would mean to also care about every other conflict in the world and that would be too time consuming and unrealistic.

Ultimately, this is a banter thread innit.

Got me thinking the mention of agriculture minister, what do Gazans / Palestinians grow for their people and economy. Most of it appears to be for local consumption as they are prevented from exporting (or so the first video suggests).

I looked and searched as best as possible without any emotional attachment to war, but as is clear in the videos, it naturally impacts on this type of search and cannot be completely avoided as it's all the area has ever known.

I purposely looked for videos more than 2 years old, so that the current war did not pollute what I was trying to search, the last video is harvesting Olives on the West Bank:

    I never watched it.

Tbph I don't really watch much involving the BBC, football is generally my limit for there. There was some police series set in Istanbul that I watched though on Iplayer and maybe an odd episode of Dr Who lol - although Iplayer is a good tool if you are looking for something to watch. Would be better if I had a choice like all my other viewing of whether I want to pay for it...BBC News should be free like every other news channel...maybe it is, no idea.

They decided to smash up the agricultural infrastructure Israelis left behind when they were pulled out of Gaza.

I haven't seen it either. But I'm still waiting for anybody to tell me what's not true about it.

My personal opinion is that the BBC should have just said, **** it so what if his Dad issues licences for Olive growers, we will show what is happening to kids in this warzone. But I get why they can't.

The point about not caring. I actually do, and my personal take on this is that it's a conflict that has been aided and abetted by the UK and the west at the expense of Palestinians, because they 'don't matter'. They are largely a poor and disenfranchised group of people, who have been systematically driven out of their land by a well funded and well armed 'westernised' nation.

I have some personal interests in it all too. I was due to go to Gaza just before Hamas were elected, on a project to do with kids mental health, but it got pulled because I was working for a public body. I've also got friends who have just come back from the West Bank who work with young people out there. And I've got an Israeli Jewish friend here in the UK. He's of Arab descent, so he sort of encompasses all camps lol.

Does that mean I don't care about other conflicts, no. But I take the point that it is all very time consuming and ultimately quite depressing to absorb all of it. I just wish we could lob all of the ****s that create these wars and gladly slaughter innocent people into a big ****ing vat of boiling tar and be done with them, whatever their race, religion or nationality. It doesn't matter to me.

99% of the world's population just want to raise their kids, get on with their neighbours and live a peaceful life. In the end, it comes down to just a few people who make the decisions that create hell on earth for others.

I saw some stupid **** where he's threatening Putin with tariffs again, 50 days.

Like where the **** does he pluck that number from, why not 5 days, 10 days, because all he is doing is giving Putin the signal (green light) to bomb Ukraine as much as you like over the next 50 days, the same as happened last time he was sorting it on this watch.

Another thing I don't like is him 'selling' weapons to NATO - because to me that's like signalling to Putin your fight is with Europe, not America. I know America are in NATO but I can see Trumpton saying, well I knew this would break out into all out war with Europe, 'I told you so' but I'm just going to let them slug it out for a few weeks,'

and us Americans will just stand over here out the way.

If Trump does drag us into a war with these weapon sales, I can see him using it to boost the American economy and say to his people, look how good I am guys, and because Europe has started a war, we'll make **** loads of money on weapons, so I can lower your taxes.

Funny I was looking Sunday to see where Wimbledon strawberries come from, and yes they do come from Kent a place in Mereworth, not that far from the all built up Kings Hill area now in Maidstone. Some nice areas not far from there little old villages. Use to be a little shop that sold home made ham rolls and stuff in Wateringbury, doubt it's there these days. Yalding another nice area, although gets flooded a lot and the bridge at Teston can't cope with the weight of the traffic anymore. Always use to be lovely in the summer, but like everything it's probably all been ****ed up now with endless building and too much traffic, oh and minus a few pubs I expect.

Almost 7,000 Afghan nationals are being relocated to the UK following a massive data breach by the British military that the government tried to keep secret with a super injunction.

The blunder exposed the personal information of close to 20,000 individuals, endangering them and their families.

The Ministry of Defence said the relocation costs alone will be around £850m. However, an internal government document from February this year said the cost could rise to £7bn.

Details about the blunder can finally be made public after a judge lifted a super injunction that had been sought by the government.

Barings Law, a law firm that is representing around 1,000 of the victims, accused the government of trying to hide the truth from the public following a lengthy legal battle.

    https://news.sky.com/story/mod-data...-afghans-at-risk-of-serious-violence-13396941

Defence Secretary John Healey offered a "sincere apology" for the data breach in a statement to MPs in the House of Commons this afternoon.

He said he had felt "deeply concerned about the lack of transparency" around the data breach, adding: "No government wishes to withhold information from the British public, from parliamentarians or the press in this manner."
