It’s strange because I know there is lot of talk and complaints about “tapping up” but I didn’t think it was common these days for “football manager” type situations where you can bid for a player who has no interest in joining at all (such as due to the league you are in). Thought most agents at least give the nod So if true we might be a pawn to get interest moving
Gustavo Hamer sounds like he’s off to PSV. Good news for us if he does. Feels like most of the teams who were in the Championship last year are/have lost big players.
It just highlights that you really need to get out quickly. I think Leeds were maybe a bit of an exception. But I didn’t follow their transfers last year close enough
Yeah, but tbh it doesn’t really affect us all that much. If the expected ones leave this window (Dibling, Fernandes, Ramsdale) then who is left that we’d be bothered about leaving/would get a better move if we don’t go up this year? THB possibly and Edwards if he has a really good season, but can’t think of anyone else, unless a youngster comes through or Quarshie/Downs are really good. Hamer was one of those that most Sheff Utd fans probably thought he’d leave last year but stayed for a year. Like if any of the three I listed stayed this year, we would all accept that if we don’t go up they’d likely be off
Another centre back would be interesting. Would likely mean at least 2 of last seasons options are off
Bednarek & THB I would assume and ABK by any means necessary. Stephens, Edwards, Wood & Quansah. You’d think four is enough as I’d be surprised if we went for a back three with Downes and Charles as midfielders
They’ll have money, but will have to get their replacements right. Only just clocked that Rowe has gone too. Not that I thought they were contenders for promotion anyway, but they usually cause us problems so good news they’ll be much weaker.
They will be weaker, but their recruitment has been pretty solid so far (got decent players in through the spine of the team, including already having a Sargent replacement) and Rowe wasn't their last season either. Sainz going is a big loss, but his second half of the season was pretty average. Biggest plus for them is that they (appear to) have a Manager who is tactically flexible, at least compared to Wagner and Thorup who were quite dogmatic in their approach. Tricky one, as even when the look off it, they always seem to get something from games against us.
Norwich spend quite a bit on that Brondby striker recently so guess Sargeant was always unlikely to stay. EDIT - link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c70r9ygwydjo#:~:text=Norwich sign Denmark striker Kvistgaarden&text=Norwich City have completed the,of a further 12 months.
