Arsenal finally make a decision on a striker. Gyokeres deal looks imminent £60m + add-ons. That leaves Sesko at RBL, think he'd be a better option than Ektike
it also sets the valuation for an in form young striker - the other two mentioned shouldn’t cost more in theory
Not really how it works though is it. Madueke just got signed by Arsenal for 52m. That doesn’t mean any average winger that can’t score or assist is now suddenly valued at 52m otherwise if you use madueke value then Gyokeres is worth 100m.
The way it works is you pay what you think a player is worth to your team and no more. Everyone can laugh at what you paid for Nunez and we paid for Antony but the managers at the time must have thaought they seen something in them to pay that price. Somtimes a player can look unbelievably good in one league/team and be a disaster in another as we both found out.
....A desperate attempt to compare Nunez to the shambolic Antony....... Nunez.....40 goals in 3 seasons including 25 league goals Antony....12 goals in 3 seasons including 5 league goals Sorry,no comparison.
Diego was on a buzz last night. Don't feed the troll. You know what he gets like when he is on the jazz. Anthony not only was a massive flop he was a bad attitude. You should have focused on that
that’s exactly how it works. Of course there are one-offs and buy-out clauses but player valuations are based on what people are prepared to pay (e.g. the market price) - if you are selling or buying, you will look at similar types of players sold to determine what that price is….obviously the seller, to justify their price, the buyer, to justify their offer.
I think most were just pointing and laughing. We have to feed him occasionally otherwise he'll just waste away and our late-night entertainment will be gone.
But it’s not. Antony cost 80m so does that mean any bang average winger is now worth 80m? No… because madueke went for 50m and cherki just went for 30m. Far more factors involved in what determines the fee than comparing against other players. Who the buying club is, who the selling club is, how long left on contract, if player is in form, if player has caused a fuss with current team, if they have any kind of gentlemen’s agreement to go.
I completely agree that there are a lot of variables, including a Utd tax , but they will all work from a perceived market price and the basic principle of supply and demand. Antony’s form with Utd will definitely reflect on his current valuation but not on what Utd paid for him. It’s basic economics and whether we like it or not, players are simply assets. I am not saying it is a hard number, but the value range is set by sales values that have happened recently….. would you sell Diaz for £40m would you have paid £60m for Kerkez why not? Because they are not what those positions go for.
except Gvardiol went for 70m cancelo 60m walker 50m wan bisaka 50m and no I wouldn’t sell Diaz for 40m. To us in our current situation he’s worth about 80m as we’d have to pay a lot to replace and not much value out there. But I also wouldn’t buy Diaz for 80m if he was available and we were looking to buy. Hes worth more to us because of Nunez/Jota situation then he would be to others. And none of that is based on what madueke has just been sold for or what Gyokeres is being sold for.
Mateta being linked. Would be a horrendous option. Proper number 9 that and been in brilliant form last 2 years but at his age and probably cost a fair whack seems a short term option. Proper handful though to play through the centre and offer real physical presence.
Jota will be missed. We can't hold both a shirt number and a squad space forever. Nunez is a nice lad and did work hard but we have to get better and slot seems to have made his mind up. Maybe he will be given a second chance I don't know. We also have the diaz situation and this whole chiesa situation. The way the press are going they'd have everyone sold off bar salah if they could. It's should be all up in the air now. It's really up to slot isn't it? Or should be.
