Good Morning. It's Monday 14th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Harrison has no future at ER

Leeds are reportedly ready to entertain offers around £10 million for winger Jack Harrison this summer. After two seasons on loan at Everton, the 28-year-old has returned to Thorp Arch, albeit reluctantly, for pre-season training. However, it's clear he's not part of Daniel Farke's vision for the upcoming campaign, a sentiment fully reciprocated by Harrison, who is keen to secure a definitive move away from Elland Road.

Harrison’s journey with Leeds has been a complicated one. He initially arrived on loan for three seasons, accruing £9 million in loan fees, before making his permanent switch in the summer of 2021 for £11m. He came close to leaving during the 2023 winter transfer window and was in the middle of a medical (with Leicester City) when the 49ers dramatically intervened, and ended up signing a lucrative new long-term contract, reportedly worth £90,000 per week.

Following relegation that season, Harrison controversially deserted the Whites, joining Everton on loan for two seasons without so much as a loan fee. This move, perceived by many as abandoning the club in their hour of need, created significant bad blood with the fan base, further straining his relationship with the club.

For Leeds, moving Harrison on is as much about finances and it is about a harmonious dressing room. While a permanent sale is the preferred outcome, the club remains open to another loan spell if no suitable offers materialise, though this could see them bear a portion of his significant salary.

Calvert-Lewin high on Leeds wish list

Goals are an expensive commodity in the top flight, and securing a proven scorer is paramount to ensuring Leeds survival next season. The emergence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a free agent therefor presents an interesting dilemma for the Whites!

The eleven time England ace recently became a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Everton, making him an attractive proposition for many clubs. According to reports, Leeds are exploring various attacking options this summer, and Calvert-Lewin appears to be high on their list.

At his best, he has showcased genuine Premier League quality, making him a potentially excellent addition. After a challenging spell at Everton marred by injuries and inconsistent form, a fresh start at Elland Road could be precisely what the striker needs to reignite his career.

At 28, he is still theoretically in his prime and will undoubtedly be eager to get back to his prolific best.
However, Leeds will need to carefully consider his Bamfordesque injury record. While the financial benefit of signing a player of his calibre without a transfer fee is undeniable, his well-documented struggles with fitness in recent seasons are a significant factor.

    Other striking news

Rumours linking Daniel Farke with a reunion with Norwich striker Josh Sargent continue to find their way to the back pages of the tabloids. Farke was instrumental in bringing Sargent to Carrow Road in 2021 just before his sacking, and since then, has netted 46 times in 121 league appearances for the Canaries.

Norwich's reported £20m valuation for Sargent, while steep, reflects the current premium on quality attackers. The question remains whether he offers a significant upgrade on existing options like Joel Piroe, especially considering the hefty price tag.

Leeds have already moved to bolster their attacking ranks with the acquisition of Lukas Nmecha. However, his two-year deal and 'experienced bit-part player' tag suggest he's more of a short-term solution, expected to fill any temporary voids up front.

Beyond Sargent, the Whites are casting a wide net, holding talks with Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Callum Wilson. Wilson, 33 and available on a free transfer offers valuable experience, but both he and Calvert-Lewin come with well-documented injury histories.

Can Leeds afford to gamble on a player who might spend a significant portion of the season on the sidelines? The club faces tough decisions as they seek a reliable goal scorer. Their top target, Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz would certainly give Whites fans the shot in the arm needed to believe they can survive next season, but all depends on whether Fulham can find a suitable replacement!

    Morning all

It's certainly starting to look like we haven't much money, no to Josh Sargent, Sunderland are supposedly interested in Vardy which is meeting a mixed reception, the German we signed is surely fighting for the first substitute spot with Piroe so if we are after Calvert-Lewin that will be us done in signing strikers, I'm not convinced but it's getting to the stage I will be happy to see any new face arrive

I remember Kinnear making a statement after our last relegation re our transfer failures. It was something along the lines that spending 10 nor 15m on players in pl wasn't good enough and you need to shop at the next level up. We're shopping at a level even lower this time so I wonder had the 49ers transfer plans going forward anything to do with Kinnear jumping ship. And before anyone starts throwing Tanaka forward as an example of what you'll get for 3m, he's a once off. If it was that easy done, every club would be getting them in. Farke also wanted most of the business done by time team returned for training. Hopefully it hasn't been done

Sargent is no better or than Piroe, so what's the point, DCL is a joke, rather stick with Bamford.
If were signing players for the prime positions they need to be an up grade on what we have, neither of those are. Are we really using the RB scouting team, very little evidence of it so far.
The natives are starting to get restless, would be good to see a couple in this wee bit not looking likely. I think £12m is enough for Lingstaff but with the news Stach doesn't seem interested in coming, do we bite the bullet and pay the £15m, if it improves us £3m is a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things. Looking more likely we don't have a big pot to piss in

It certainly seems we're shopping at the same place as Sunderland and Burnley despite us winning the league.

It's all quiet in, and around ER. It means they are up to something!!!!

Sargent if he really was a Prem player he'd be there by now or in a better league rather than sitting playing Championship football season in season out. Im really hoping its the media putting Farke's Norwich links to us chasing a striker and putting 2+2 together and coming up with 10.
Calvert-Lewin I really hope not we've had enough of sicknote signings is he really any better than what we have?
Harrison knows his time is up here. don't think he ever will be accepted back by the fans some of the others came back after a season probably because they were forced maybe. but, he's went another season leaving us in the lurch think his relationship with the fanbase is well and truly terminated.
time is ticking now though we gonna have to make a move soon the frustration is arift with alot of fans.
I'm still just ok with it but the link clicking is getting more and more regular awaiting news.

    Coming from the Athletic today.
We want to shift 10 from the squad before this window closes.
Mesleir, Harrison, Gyabi, Greenwood, Gelhardt, All been told won't feature for us in the Prem.
Joeseph, Bamford, Schmidt all available for transfer if any offers.
Crew, Chambers will be shifted out on loan.

And every one of them we can't shift, slows our team building process. Wed be lucky to get 20m for the lot and then there will be the agents fees to move them on

We turned down £9.5m for Joseph, Harrison they’re talking £7m but can’t see that myself. Meslier has to be £6-7m I think we’re looking at a £30m pot, more importantly some hefty wages saved

We’re probably waiting to ship our deadwood out before making anymore signings.

But no one seemingly wants them.

    I think we’re ****ed tbh.

This game against Scum on Saturday we havent took any or much training with the ball or on the tactical side basically fitness tests. so for me its a nothing game to read into on the result and it's more of a marketing event.
But the following weekend will be different. we want the majority of the transfers done our future first team need to be on that plane to Germany.
We have 11 days to start pulling our fingers out. we have to start splashing that cash.
We don't want to be away on a training camp without putting that first 11 into action aswell as gelling as a squad.
Absolute jackshyte from the club again today.
