Whistleblowing is protected in UK law. Whether this scenario would meet that criteria is debatable, but it's an established concept in UK employment law.

On a more pragmatic level, the idea that club sources don't routinely speak to journalists at any football club is fanciful. Mainly it's used to the clubs advantage, but on the flip side, it can also open a can of worms depending on the story.

Ultimately though, if you don't want skeletons falling out of closets then surely you can just ensure there are no skeletons in the closet. And if there are, then don't lie about it to your customers.

It’s not that simple to just leave a job when you have bills, rent or a mortgage, or children to care for, amongst many other things.

That’s before you consider that opportunities are fewer and fewer all the time, so the idea someone could just get employed anywhere – let alone quickly – doesn’t exist anymore within a lot of industries.

If they cant afford to live on savings for a few months its even more reason to be thankful they are being paid then surely? And with that comes some loyalty and respect. There are channels within a club/business to raise concerns.

In the main, the higher the salary in the club, the higher the power - whilst the players are earning more, they will have more power than the manager.

I actually agree and disagree with you about whistleblowing in principle, Jim. Yes, paid employees should be loyal and complain through official channels, if they exist, but at the same time, they potentially cause change for the better by anonymously speaking to journalists. Acun's core business was media, so doubt he is surprised that employees talk to journalists when things go badly... It's how the rumour mill that all of us on here want to hear about ..

Bootlicking employees are the worse type. Think you should be grateful to the board for giving you the opportunity to work for them, “You should work yourself to the bone, make them thousands & get by on the peanuts they chuck” **** ‘em.

We had a Manager once with those exact sentiments. We also got a new Group Leader who was open to discussing, with employee reps, the reasons behind the poor levels of engagement, enthusiasm & productivity,

He removed the whole level of Management. Saw their true colours then. No shows, sickness, sob stories, I found it quite satisfying, many even wanted to join the Union for help. Nothing wrong with a growing Membership.

Because you love the club, I already said this.

No, but I know that many of the stalwarts working in a football club are there because they're passionate for the club and are essentially donating their work to the club at a reduced rate. Your condescending view on them is frankly pathetic. You consort with the CEOs and have no regard for the common person clearly.

"Only" an 8m profit. Fantastic, so we aren't losing as much money as everyone is carrying on about. :emoticon-0138-think

I imagine the fans who "hate" Acun now are the ones who "loved" him the most before

Meanwhile lots of other people see him as just another owner
