They both played. And then we bought Asprilla. And had Beardo, Ginola, etc. Maybe the club is just getting serious. Having won a cup and qualified for CL again (with fairly limited transfer activity) they might think it's now time to really push on.
Shearer and les weren't versatile in the same way.. Ekitike isn't a striker like that and neither is Isak. Newcastle would have the ability to rotate across all 3 fwd positions, and even s something different. If there's a story out there with any substance it's this one, because we've had a genuine interest for years and didn't get Pedro over the line. Nickson will have watched Ekitike at youth level. Price though and the fact bigger clubs are after him again will be the issue.
Wilson being moved on tells me they're close on something and then this news. My senses are telling me I have a few posters on here wrapped up in another Joelinton type cocoon.
Liverpool fans seem odd to me. Why would Newcastle spend £55m on Isak’s Swedish teammate to then let him leave?
It's called emotional decision making... They simply want that to be the case, so they make the decision instantly, and then look for reasons to believe it. Ironically we do the same.
Speaking of Brighton, I'm a bit miffed as to what has happened with Evan Ferguson. Reports today seem to indicate he may be off to Roma on loan. Always liked the look of him a couple of seasons ago and looks to be an old fashioned type centre forward in the Shearer battering ram mould. He's still only 20 and I reckon he's exactly the type of player that could absolutely flourish under Howe, he'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than Ekitike, younger than Wissa and would probably jump at the chance to head north and replace Wilson (not the No9 shirt tho).
I'm assuming the striker position will be the next 2 weeks. Then hopefully we can actually get a CB by mid August
Yeah striker is the next one apparently, but I don't think it works like that. A player could become available at any time.
Isn’t being good at playing football one of the ‘must have’s’? Personally, would have thought so. And ‘Club in bag’ is this anything to do with PB having to significantly improve his holiday golfing prowess?
That is irrelevant in the context of what I'm saying mind and I don't think not having Mitchell will make a huge difference.
