Oh yeah, this muppet get's to say "yes" to us then reject us for a 3rd time. It's such a fun game that him and his agent play.
Just thinking, it would be like The Entertainer days all over again. Who needs a new CB anyway? .................Trafford Tino........Botman.......Hall ......Bruno......Tonali ........Watkins......Ekitike Elanga.....Isak......Gordon Subs: Pope, Schar, Burn, Joelinton, Miley, Wissa, Murphy, Barnes, Osula
I'm saying we're not signing DLC, Wissa or Watkins. It'll be Guehi, Scalvini, Konsa or Alexsandro at RCB. I think we'll get a deal done for Adeyemi for the other attacking option. And Trafford will finally sign. That's two "mystery" names from the continent plus GK sorted. If Longstaff goes we'll get Richardson from Fiorentina, El Khanouss or Ramsey. And I think we'll get Thiaw for a bargain price to cover RB.
All seem nailed on from bids. Lyon may be safe from relegation but they need money, hence Alexsandro. But suspect it’s Guehi, Konsa, Scalvini preferred in order. Attacker is definitely happening. Midfielder too, we will sell one of Longstaff or Willock.
I'm kinda worried PSG might make a bid for Isak now with the extra 100+ millions they'll get from winning the club world cup as Ramos is hardly an elite striker so the lack of a real CF is probably the only weak part of PSG's squad currently. I wouldn't be surprised if PSG have already contacted Newcastle about our willingness to do a 150+ million deal which would explain our renewed interest in an overpriced player like Ekitike who I don't think we'd even entertain buying for 80mil unless we were expecting a monster bid to come in for Isak soon. While Ekitike's a talented player he's more like a Roberto Firmino link SS than an out an out striker like an Isak, don't forget Marmoush who's now at City got most of the goals when he and Ekitike played together at Frankfurt much like Mane & Salah got most of the goals playing with Firmino at Liverpool.
While it would be a concern to see Isak go, as im not sure you can replace him (top 5 cf in the world), with that kind money that we would open up a serious war chest. Assuming of the £63m we paid for him we paid £13m up front and instalments of £10m a year we’d have £33m equity and £80m profit - £113m in the bank (about a third of what the Saudis paid for the entire club) -and an amortised £560m+ war chest for signings I’m not sure we could say no to that kind of deal.
Steve Nickson has more power now and he's always loved Ekitike as he was the one pushing the boat out to get him from Reims years ago before he went to PSG. I'd say we'd probably accept 100mil + Barcola for Isak and maybe another youth prospect from PSG to sweeten the deal. With Barcola at LW we could conceivably sell Gordon or Barnes for a big wedge to get 2 CB's in.
Agreed. Don't think we are looking to break with our recruitment age strategy anyway. Think Spurs may well get him which will then kibosh the Mbeumo deal
Were there any rumours of Wissa? Doesn't really make sense, is 29 a couple of weeks into the new season as well. Played his best season, but with the manager gone, and Mbeumo and Smooth Operator likely to leave too, how much of his form was cos of them? We might see quite a change in Brentford this season.
There’s a transfer strategy people like to follow when it suits but even think Ekitike is a realistic target when Howe’s major red line is no dickheads policy should put a stop to all that ****e.
He'd be my third choice in a list with Scalvini and Guehi, but it would make sense if we're also going to try for an ambitious forward target like Ekitike. Thiaw would cost about £25m less than the quoted prices for Scalvini and Guehi, so would bring the £60m we were going to spend on Joao Pedro tidily up to the Ekitike price tag of £85m.
